"Alright everyone," Alby spoke. "The girls have called us here for a reason I quite agree with."

Molly stepped forward," Okay so obviously we're going to be stuck in this place for a little while. So we might as well settle in. If we are going to be stuck we might as well make it enjoyable. Starting off by cleaning up this place."

"Laundry day," I said and motioned to the baskets. "Dirty clothes. Cough 'em up."

Newt and Daniel both had brought their pile of clothes with them. The both put them in the basket next to me.

"Wait why? We wash them every night!" One boy somewhere near the back of the group complained.

"Because," Molly put her hands on her hips. "You can't wear the same outfit for three months without washing it properly!"

"Hey come on guys," Minho walked forward and put his pile of extra clothes in the basket. "These girls are doing us a favor. I wouldn't wanna go near you shanks dirty rags with a mile long stick." He smiled at Molly. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and smiled back, "Thanks Minho."

He winked and stepped back.

Before long we had six baskets of clothes. Daniel and Alby filled up two large wooden tubs with water from the rain barrels and we began the task of scrubbing out all the grime. I mixed together salt, mint oil from mint leaves, and a little bit of the soap that came up in the box in one bowl. As we scrubbed the clothes Molly and I would pour a small handful of the liquid onto whatever garment we were washing. Then we put the clothes on a vine tied between two oak trees so they could dry.

I lifted a pair of light gray colored cargo pants out of the water. I automatically recognized them as the ones Newt had worn the day we met. I noticed a string of pale stains on the leg so I tried to scrub them out with the brush we had. It wouldn't come out. The stains were dark brown with a reddish tinge. Blood. I managed to fade it a little bit more. Why did Newt have blood all over his clothes? Something didn't feel right.

I put the pants over the line to dry and helped Molly finish the rest. When the clothes were done, which I might add took forever because there's 28 of us now, I went off to look for Newt. I found him stacking wood outside Frypan's kitchen. I waited a few seconds before approaching him.

I covered his eyes with my hands, "Guess who?"

"Abraham Lincoln?" My boyfriend turned around and pulled me into his arms.

"Sorry to disappoint you."

"Id' be disappointed if it was actually him instead of you darling," He kissed me.

"Ew Newt you're all sweaty!"

He laughed and pulled his long sleeved shirt over his tank top.

"Um hey baby," I motioned to the side. "Can I talk to you about something?"

Newt grabbed my hand and kissed my cheek, "Of course."

Newt and I walked towards the furthest glade wall. When we got the the stone surface we sat down against it and watched the other gladers through the brush.

"So," Newt put his arm around me. "What's on your mind?"

"Newt, I washed a pair of your pants."

He looked confused, "I really appreciate it."

"No Newt. The gray ones."

His eyes darkened as if they were seeing some terror replay.

"Newt, the stains. The blood."

My boyfriend went silent. Stone cold. Froze.

"I'm sorry," I said quickly. "I didn't mean to pry I was only worried."

Newt hushed me, "Love would you please calm down." He pulled up the leg on the pants he wore now. I saw a jagged scar on the side of his calf. "Oh Newt."

"I don't like to talk about it. When I got up here, when I came out of the box, I felt empty. With no memories I had no idea who I was. The emptiness I felt was unbearable so I."

I knelt in front of him.

"I'm such an idiot!" He choked back tears.

"You can tell me Newt. You can trust me."

He sighed, "One morning I woke up early. As soon as the gates opened. I ran into the maze and found the tallest wall I could. I climbed it and jumped."

I looked down at my lap.

"Got wound up in the ivy like a proper shank and fell. Broke my leg in three places," He rubbed the scar with his finger. "Broke the skin a bit here."

I ran my finger over it, "Then what?"

"Minho found me. Don't know how. I was pretty far in. He carried me back, didn't say a word about what really happened, and stood by me through the rest. Gave me a second shot at life he did, and I know I'll never be able to repay that debt." Newt had tears rolling down his cheeks. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry!"

I held his hands, "What do you have to be sorry for? Newt, It's all alright now."

"I am so stupid."

"No no. No you're not," I hugged him.

Newt leaned his head against my chest.

I ran my fingers through his hair, "I love you you know? Please do not ever forget that."
