Lanzhan finds himself in need of an Omega when his Nie Country visa application is denied and he's threatened with deportation. His quiet assistant, Weiying, just so happens to have dual citizenship. The problem? Making sure their romance is believa...
“Not the baby blanket,” Lanzhan muttered as he tossed it off the bed. He looked at Weiying. “Okay, what do we do? Pretend we’re still asleep?”
“Just spoon me!”
he settled back down on his pillow and Lanzhan lay beside his, one arm daring to wrap around his waist. Weiying suddenly jerked away from him and glanced back at him, his eyes wide.
“Oh my God, what is that ?”
Lanzhan suddenly became very aware of what his body was doing. Heat rose in his cheeks. “I’m sorry. It’s morning?”
“What do you mean, it’s morning?” Weiying let out a breath before he turned and settled back down. “Gross.” he paused. “You’re on my hair.”
Lanzhan adjusted and pulled his hair out from under his arm, throwing it over his shoulder. “It was in a bun last night! How did this even happen?”
“Ssh!”
There was a loud knock on the door.
“Hey lovebirds, feeling hungover this morning?” Jiang Cheng called through the door.
“Do we answer?” Lanzhan murmured.
Weiying was staring at the wall in front of his, his sleep-addled brain thudding with his hangover as he tried to compute the fact that Lanzhan was laying in bed behind his, close enough he could feel the warmth of his breath tickling the hairs on the back of his neck. And his...his thing had touched his. And it had definitely been standing at attention.
“Probably should,” he finally managed to whisper back.
Jiang Cheng knocked again, louder this time. “Come on, you two! We’ve got big plans today. Big, big plans.”
“We’re up!” Weiying called out, his voice highis pitched than usual. he cleared his throat and tried again. “We’ll be downstairs soon!”
“Alright. Hurry up.”
He listened to the sound of Jiang Cheng’s boots walking away, and he sank into the mattress with a sigh.
“That was close,” Lanzhan said quietly behind him.
Weiying rubbed the sleep from his eyes. “That could’ve been bad. At least he didn’t just barge in.”
“Yeah, good thing.” Lanzhan sat up. “Sorry...about that. I panicked.”
Weiying pushed himself up into a sitting position and glanced over at him. “At least I didn’t punch you this time.”
Lanzhan chuckled. “Yeah, that was nice.” He stood up suddenly, as if he just realized he was still sitting on the bed with him. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine.” Weiying put his legs over the edge of the bed as his head thundered hotly, and he cradled it in his hands. “But my head is not. God, I haven’t been this hungover since my college graduation.”
He looked at his, brow creased. “Want me to get you some water? And maybe Tylenol?”
He stood up slowly. “That’s okay. I’m gonna take a shower and it’s all in the bathroom.” Weiying shuffled over to his suitcase and started rifling through it. “You can either hide up here or go get some coffee. Your choice.”
Lanzhan grimaced. Coffee did sound good, but dealing with Jiang Cheng again did not.
They had played a total of four games—the last two being just between him and Jiang Cheng, as the Omega had bowed out—and Jiang Cheng had lost every single one of them. After his final loss, Jiang Cheng had basically just ignored Lanzhan, fuming. Lanzhan only hoped that his bad mood hadn’t carried over into the morning.
“Yeah...coffee,” Lanzhan muttered. “And uh, what, exactly, are the big plans for today?”
He considered that for a moment. “You know, I’m not sure. My dad and brother are gonna want to get to know you, so maybe they’ve planned something.” Weiying headed for the door. “Shower’s yours when I’m done.”
“Thanks.”
Then he was gone. Lanzhan let out a sigh. He grabbed his hooded sweatshirt out of his bag and pulled it over his head before he left the room. He could hear the shower running in the bathroom, but he didn’t allow his thoughts to linger on the young Omega behind the door who was likely in a state of undress right now.
He crept silently down the stairs, hoping to avoid detection for as long as he could.

A few Hours later, Huaisung was walking up to His Room with an smile.
“I tried to talk Jiang Cheng out of it,” Huaisung said.
Weiying shook His head. “I forgot how embarrassing my family can be. Can you believe the first thing Granny said to Lanzhan was about grandchildren?”
“Actually, yes, I can. She says something to me almost every time I come over.” Huaisung chuckled. Then he glanced at Weiying from the corner of His eye. “So this uh, engagement seems a little sudden.”
“How long have you two been seeing each other?” Huaisung asked.
“Six months,” Weiying replied readily.
“And he’s a good man?” Huaisung studied him. “Because last I checked, he was an asshole. Unless we’re talking about Another Lanzhan who you also worked for.”
Weiying shook his head. “No, same asshole. He’s just...he’s more than that. It just took me a while to realize that. He’s passionate, and caring, and so smart. He’s incredible at his job. And he loves his family. He’s a good guy.”
Huaisung reached over and squeezed His hand. “Then I’m happy for you. You’re my best friend. I just want to make sure you aren’t fucking your life up or anything.”
Weiying struggled to meet his best friend’s gaze as the guilt gnawed at His. he hated lying. But Weiying knew that the things he’d said about Lanzhan were true. So their marriage was a fake, but he was amiable enough. He would take care of him. There were worse things out there. Worse people. Like His ex.
“I’m not,” Weiying finally managed to say. “I love him. Very much.”
“Good.” Huaisung grinned. “I better be your maid of honor.”
Weiying smiled at His. “Duh. I wouldn’t want it any othere way.”
