Later that day
I sat in my car, looking down at the tablets before quickly popping one into my mouth. It'd been a long day for me but I was finally done with work and I'd finally gotten my prescription for my birth control pills.
My doctor had told me that it would take up to seven days for it to finally be in my system, so I should continue to tread lightly until then. And with Cain's words and my feelings about it all, I would try my hardest to continue to refrain from sex with him like I've been.
It'd been a long year and some change and lord knows I was ready to risk it all with him again but his words made me too afraid to now.
So he'd messed it up for himself.
Breaking me away from my thoughts, my phone rang loudly as I looked down at it, seeing Mya's Dad (Babe)🩷 flash across the screen. I couldn't help but to sigh as it did, considering we hadn't spoken since I'd left angrily last night and I knew he would probably want to continue the conversation.
And I wasn't in the mood for it.
Rolling my eyes discreetly, I reluctantly reached for my phone before answering and putting it to my ear.
"Hello." I said before his deep voice came through the receiver.
"I apologize to you, babygirl."
"I ain't mean what I said to you and I never meant to hurt you."
"I was just talkin' shit because I was mad."
"But I know I was wrong, so I'm gon' be a man and apologize to you for saying that shit." Was all he said before anything else and I looked down at my hands, smiling small as he did.
See, this was the new Cain and with this new Cain, I could never be mad for too long. He knew exactly what to do and what to say to get me every time.
And he always apologized to me, no matter what.
That's what I loved the most these days.
The line went quiet afterwards though as I sat there waiting for him to speak but I guess he was doing the exact same, waiting to see what my response would be.
"I accept your apology, babe." I spoke softly and I could hear relief in his voice when I did.
"Aight then."
"Thank you, babygirl." He spoke happily now as he began talking again.
"Whatchu' doing though?"
"Where you at?"
"I just left work." I slightly lied, looking at the CVS sign as I was parked right in front of it. Then, down at my brown bag full of birth control pills.
"I'm about to go and get Mya in a minute and drop her off at my dad's, he's been begging to see her."
"Plus she's been begging me to see him too." I expressed to him, holding my phone to my ear.
"Oh aight, coo."
"What are you doing?" I then went on asking him, trying to get answers as well.
"Nothin' really, ma."
"I just went down to the bank to check on sum', grabbed some money and shit."
"Now I'm just trying to see you."
"So, can I see you?" He went on asking now and I couldn't help but to roll my eyes playfully.
"I need to see you and I want to finish talking." He said to me and my playful smile instantly turned into a frown at the thought of having the same conversation from last night.
