Soon, Lian's figure disappeared into the golden light. It had carried her to the heavens.

Many emotions, too many to count, piled up in Mu Qing's chest. Tears continued to stream down his face as his face was still pointed upward. Just then, he shot up.

"Fuck! Maybe the teleportation array is open now! We have to go!" Mu Qing spat out in a hurry. Feng Xin nodded. Yulan's teary eyes widened.

"Mu-qianbei, Feng-qianbei, please, take me with you! I need to see A-Lian," Yulan stuttered. Mu Qing nodded. He beckoned her to come closer, then activated the teleportation array.

The streets of the Heavenly Court were crowded with heavenly officials as they swarmed to see the new ascended heavenly official. They came upon an unconscious young woman with blood staining her robes, skin slightly glowing. She looked familiar, a little like those two generals who always fought with each other, Xuan Zhen and Nan Yang. The young woman's unconscious body was in the middle of a circle of heavenly officials, the people around her talking to her and expressing concern.

"Isn't this Feng Lian, of the Palace of Nan Yang?" One heavenly official said.

"Yeah, yeah! Why is she so bloody?" Another asked.

"Is she alright? Does she need medical assistance?"

"She should be alright... this doesn't look normal, though,"

"OUT OF THE WAY!" A voice boomed among the voices of all the other heavenly officials. It was Feng Xin, pushing his way through the crowd of amused and curious heavenly officials. The heavenly officials cleared a path for Feng Xin, Mu Qing, and Yulan who were right on his tail. Feng Xin swept his robes and kneeled next to Lian's body. He felt for her pulse at her neck and listened for her breath. Mu Qing and Yulan kneeled next to him, and Yulan held Lian's hand.

"A-Lian. Wake up," Feng Xin mumbled. That was seven parts hopefulness, three parts begging. Alas, he was met with no reply from Lian.

"...Feng-qianbei? What happened? Isn't she supposed to..." Yulan said, voice breaking. A medical official knelt on the other side of Lian. It was Lan Ning.

"Generals Xuan Zhen and Nan Yang. It is nice to see you again, but not so in such circumstances," Lan Ning said, voice clear.

"What do you mean, Miss Lan Ning?" Mu Qing asked, voice gentle. Lan Ning felt Lian's pulse again.

"It's a miracle that she's alive, and I sense a trace of demonic poison in her. Most of it was dispelled, I assume by the combined efforts of the spiritual energy of both of you generals. Although Xiao-Lian is alive, she is in a comatose state. This is a case similar to Lord Rain Master's. Lord Rain Master awakened when she ascended. Lian has not awakened, and this is expected. Lord Rain Master didn't have traces of demonic poison in her system, but Xiao-Lian was severely poisoned and was on the brink of death before she ascended," Lan Ning explained thoroughly. "To sum it all up, although Xiao-Lian will wake one day, it will not be soon like in the next hour or few days," Lan Ning finished, expression solemn. Yulan turned her head away and pressed a hand to her mouth as she suppressed more sobs.

"...understood," Feng Xin said, eyes boring into Lian. They were red at the edges, and wet. Mu Qing didn't have enough energy to cry anymore, so he sat with a deadpan, depressed look on his face. He awkwardly patted Yulan's back.

"Don't be sad. At least she's alive, and she'll wake up eventually," Feng Xin said to a heartbroken Yulan. Yulan nodded.

"Until she wakes, can I take care of her? Mu-qianbei and Feng-qianbei need your rest. It would be a burden on you, adding to all of the missions you have as martial gods," Yulan said in a nasal voice. Feng Xin gently patted her back again and nodded.
