Part 13: starcrossed lovers

Cloves POV
Before we knew it, it was the day of the interviews...I wake up in my bed where Cato is usually next to me but he wasn't today so I go to check on him and he was already training with Brutus and enobaria for the interviews. "Clove! Finally we have to get you prepared for the interviews as well" enobaria says so I go sit next to Cato

"Okay clove you know your angle right?" Brutus asks "Yes me and Cato are supposed to be charming but deadly" they both nod and enobaria asks me some questions "okay clove, how are you feeling about the games?" "I am so...ready! Not only to play but to kill" I say with a smirk and Brutus gives me a thumbs up behind enobarias back. He usually is the funny one eno is usually the serious one. "Okay next, was your family happy you were chosen?" "Uh- my sister and mom died when I was younger..." trying not to show emotion "oh...how about your dad?" "Um...(I look at Cato)" "she doesn't really know her dad." He states while pulling me closer and holding my hand "oh..I'm sorry clove hopefully they don't even ask those questions" she says giving a small smile

"Okay...Cato your turn" Brutus says turning to Cato "Cato...is there a special girl in your life?" He looks at me and I nod and give a slight smile "yes. The girl from one" he says unenthusiastically and Brutus sighs "Cato you have to put more feeling into this. Your supposed to be talking about the 'love of your life'!"

"Well she's not!!" Cato says almost getting up from his chair but I put my hand on his and eno speaks "look Cato...this is the plan before we can find a plan to save you both! This little act with glimmer is just to keep you guys alive for now so please..." we both nod understanding both of them

"Well...we should probably start getting ready for the interviews hm?" I turn to Cato and he nods and we go to get ready. By the time we are done we meet up at the elevator "well hello beautiful" he says with a smirk as I walk to him "hello handsome" I say with a wink and he gives me a quick peck and we got to the interview waiting area where marvel and glitter are already waiting.

"Hey so you know the plan right?" Glitter asks me "yea" I roll my eyes "yea marvel is kinda peeved about it" she laughs and it leaves me confused "why is he peeved?" "Oh...uh haha me and him have been together for bout 2 years...we were really sad when the academy picked us.." oh...they were going through the same thing "oh I'm sorry me and Cato are together too" I say fiddling with my ring "i know (she winks) he always talked about you" she says with a smile. This was so weird I was annoyed by glimmer at first...but now I understand that we were all human even worse teenagers put in this situation

Before I knew it, it was my turn and I went up on stage and the crowd applauded and yelled my name as if I was famous but really..I just wanted to leave. "So clove what are you thinking of the games" "oh I'm so ready...not only to survive but to kill" I say with a smirk "ooh we have a feisty one here. So clove who gave you that ring" I gasp realizing I didn't take it off "your engaged?" "Um- no no I just forgot to put it on my other hand my mistake..." "really? How do you feel of your district partner...Cato?" "Um um I-." "Let's bring some behind the scenes footage. It was footage of us kissing in the elevator and us getting engaged...it was really weird they were spying on us all this time! "I mean it's not really behind the scenes if there is footage haha" I try to shrug it off "how bout we call Cato up to the stage shall we?" And the crowd yells agreeing to the proposal and Cato comes up and sits by me and wraps his arm around my waist

He whispers to me that there's been a change of plans and eno got gloss and cashmere to agree to me and his public relationship. " so Cato...how does it feel to be put in the games with your now fiancé?l" "it's nerve wracking I'll tell you that but my main goal is to protect her at all costs." And he kisses me and the crowd goes wild with oohs and awes "well that's clove and Cato from district 2!" And our time was up

We got to watch the other interviews but it caught my attention when the guy from 12 spoke. I gasp at what he says, that he's in love with the girl from 12..not only am I sure that was fake but they again stole our spotlight! And I got really mad! Just to add more stress to tomorrow (the start of the games) they will probably get the same amount of sponsors we will of not even more!

I calm down and we sleep on Catos room and I relax for what seems to be the last time for a while. But I know me and Cato are the real star crossed lovers.
