"Lizzie?" I asked knocking on the bathroom door.

"Lizzie dinner's ready."

I couldn't hear the water draining so I knew she hadn't just gotten out of the bath and couldn't hear me. I heard the extractor fan on so I knew she was still in there; she also wasn't in the bedroom so where else would she be?

"Liz?" I said knocking again, "Elizabeth I'm coming in."

I opened the bathroom door, and she was sitting in the bath, her knees to her chest and her arms wrapped around her legs, holding them close. I slowly walked over to the bath and kneeled down next to her.

"Lizzie?" I whispered, placing one of my hands on her back gently.

She picked her head up and looked at me sadly, dried tears on the bottom of her lashes, her wet hair hanging around her face and mascara smudged under her eyes,

"Y/N?" she said softly.

"Hey," I whispered, brushing some hair out of her face and behind her ear, "dinner's ready."

"I'm not hungry," she replied, shaking her head a little.

"Can I help you out of the bath?" I asked softly.

She nodded and grabbed my hands, slowly standing up and getting out of the cold bath water. She stood there weakly with her arms wrapped around her body as I turned around to grab her a towel. I wrapped it around her shoulders and pulled her into a tight hug. She exhaled deeply and leaned into my touch. I kissed the side of her head and pulled away, holding my hand out to help her towards the bedroom. She sniffled periodically as she sat on the end of the bed, using both her hands to hold her towel up. I sat behind her and brushed through her hair with a comb, braiding it into a French braid on the back of her head. I planted a kiss on her head and pulled her towel away, pulling a t-shirt on her and wiping her face with a makeup wipe.

"Can you look at me," I asked kneeling in front of her and placing my hands on her knees.

She bought her eyes from the bedroom wall to my eyes and looked at me with a heavy gaze.

"Hey," I whispered, smiling sadly.

She sniffled and stuck her bottom lip out, "I'm so sad," she whispered, letting a tear fall.

I nodded slowly, "me too," I admitted, "but it's going to be okay," I whispered sadly.

Her chin quivered and she nodded slowly, "it feels like I lost a baby that was never even mine to begin with," she said.

I leaned my head on her thighs, looking up at her with a small smile. I planted a kiss on her knee before standing up and pulling her into a long hug.

"I'm really tired," she mumbled in my arms.

"Lay down, I'll put the food in the fridge and come back up," I said kissing her head and pulling away.

"Wait," she said as I reached the door, "please stay," she said.

"But what about the food-"

"Y/N please stay here," she said jutting her lip out again.

I nodded and walked back towards the bed, helping Lizzie to her side, and then lay down. I laid behind her and wrapped my arm around her waist, kissing her back before her breathing calmed down and she was asleep. I slowly stood up and walked downstairs quietly to put the food in the fridge. I left the washing in the sink for tomorrow morning and locked the doors before going back upstairs where Lizzie was sat up with the duvet bunched around her waist, looking at the bedroom door.

"Where did you go?" she asked.

"I needed to lock the doors and um- put the food in the fridge," I said pointing towards the stairs.
