"Okay, so you're saying you don't want to get back together with him?" my friend Ella said, taking a sip from her Mimosa. We were talking on a bar's rooftop.

"No, I want nothing to do with that asshole!" I exclaimed, pacing around the bar's rooftop. "I want to ruin his life just like he ruined mine!"

Leon Nefeli Adamos and his little buddies screwed up my entire life on this very rooftop. I almost had Carlos Henderson to myself.

He doesn't know what losing that man meant for me. Carlos and I have been together ever since I broke it off with the Adamos boys. I only got back together with Leon in hopes to figure out any upcoming plans for his family's business and report them back to Carlos.

Carlos then told me he needed time to think about us again, he didn't believe I wanted to help him. It's been three months and I've heard nothing back from him.

When I told my dad, he was furious, and he wanted nothing more than to auction me off to the highest bidder for marriage to conjoin his business and family with someone else's.

It was gross, his 1920s bullshit. I may not be a good person, but my god, I shouldn't be auctioned off like some piece of junk.

It was even worse having a golden child cousin who I keep getting compared to every damn day.

Emma lives on her own in Massachusetts, but her family handles the Jacobs business side in Canada. Her mom was my dad's sister.

I only ever got compared to her. "Oh. Emma got a scholarship at Harvard! Oh, Emma's learned how to be independent and you still haven't! Oh, Emma's engaged to a successful businessman and you're not!"

I hated it so much. I hated being compared to little miss perfect.

"Look, I haven't come up with a plan yet, but the first thing I need to do is make sure all of his little friends hate him, and I don't know how to do that!" I said, sitting down next to Ella.

"I just think you're doing too much, Laurz," Ella said. "I'm sure things will get better for you, you just have to turn your life around."

I rolled my eyes. "You're literally no help, Ella."

"Okay, I'll just leave, then!" she got up. "You're too stubborn to take anyone's advice."

"Don't let the door hit you on your way out!"

Ella scoffed and walked away, leaving the rooftop.

"How will I ruin Leon's life now?" I asked myself, leaning back on the couch and running my hands through my hair in frustration.
