Extracurricular activity

Wednesday sat at her desk in her dorm and was
furiously typing away at her typewriter.

"I've always hated the expression write
what you know.' It's a hall pass for the
imagination-impaired."

Wednesday stopped typing, grabbed the piece
of paper from the machine and crumpled it up.

"But when your life becomes a twisted
mystery..."

Wednesday grabbed the page that Rowan had
showed her, and held it up to her face, and
noticed something when her lamp shined onto
it. In the corner of the page, there was a symbol
of a flower with a skull in the middle.

"...maybe it's time to lean into it."

...

Wednesday burst into Principal Weem's office.
"I need to speak with Rowan. I can't find him."
Wednesday demanded.

"It won't be possible, I'm afraid. He's been
expelled." Weems told her, without looking up
from her computer.

"For what?" Wednesday asked incredulously.

"Never you mind. He'll be on the first train out
this afternoon. What were you and Y/n doing
out in the woods with him in the first place?"

"I told you already. We heard a noise and we
went to investigate." She repeated.

Weems scoffed. "That excuse might have
placated the sheriff, but you can't fool me. You
had a psychic vision, didn't you?"

Wednesday didn't reply, which confirmed her
suspicions.

"I realized you might be having them when we
passed by the accident and you knew that poor
farmer had broken his neck. Your mother started
having visions around your age. They were
notoriously unreliable and dangerous. I
remember at first, she thought she might be
losing her mind. Have you spoken to her about
them?"

Wednesday fidgeted uncomfortably.

"Clearly the person withholding information
here is you."

"May I go now?" Wednesday asked, wanting to
escape the interrogation.

"Not until you've picked your extracurricular
activity. We want our students to be well-
rounded." Weems smiled.

"I prefer to remain sharp-edged." Wednesday
told her.

Weems ignored that last comment. "I've taken
the liberty of putting together a list of clubs that
have openings." She handed her a clipboard.

Wednesday looked down at the list with slight
disgust. "How thoughtful."

"You need to have picked one by the end of the
day. I'll be keeping my eye on you. No doubt
you'll find something that tickles your fancy."

Wednesday reluctantly picked up the clip
board. "The last person who tickled me lost a
finger." She said, as she left.

...

Wednesday stood in the hallway that lead into
the quad, talking with Thing.

"Weems is clearly trying to keep tabs on me.
Keep an eye on Rowan. Don't let him out of
your sight." She ordered.

Thing crawled away and Wednesday entered the quad where Bianca was leading the choir group
practice.

She approached Bianca, who looked her up and
down in dislike.

"Weems said you'd be stopping by. But to be
honest, after your and Y/n's performance at
the Harvest Festival, drama club might be more
your speed."
