SUMMARY

Seventeen-year-old Alaina Bilson was one of the seven orphans Samuel and Esther Mullins invited into their home twelve years after the death of their own daughter. She was the eldest of the girls, being a year or two older than Carol, so while she was friendly to them all and often accompanied them in their talks about boys and games of hide and seek, she never truly fit in. That changed, however, when she walked into the Mullins' house and met the old gardener's son.

Jack Champion was also seventeen, and after his father suffered a fatal heart attack in the backyard of the Mullins' property a year ago, he was invited to stay until he felt comfortable enough to seek his own land. When he was told of the girl's coming arrival, he felt conflicted. He had a spare bed in his room, which he knew wouldn't stay spare for long. However, neither would his anger for the girl's appearances after he'd finally catch sight of the eldest brunette orphan.

Little did he know, the seven additional girls in the home wouldn't be the only change he'd find had been made. Unbeknownst to the two teens, an unwelcome, sinister evil was lurking in an old doll just a room over.
