When all else fails

Chapter 21

I'm Messiah Nova's dad. I'm 43 years old and I now own a chain of clubs. I was a husband, a proud father, and a provider. I love my wife so much I would never let her work a day in her life. She was beautiful and she was my back bone. I got up this morning packed my bags and I was on my way back to Dallas. I've been in Atlanta for a couple of weeks because I wanted to get away even though it was on business. I didn't tell my wife I was coming, I wanted it to be a surprise. When I landed the first thing I did was go see my daughter Nova. I got to Nova and Carter's home. I knocked twice before the door opened. I hugged Carter then preceded in.
"Nova!" I yelled noticing that she was showing, but I paid no mind to it because she never told me she was pregnant. I figured she might be eating a little more.
"Daddy why are you yelling it's six in the morning." She said wiping the sleep out of her eyes. I looked at my watch and laughed.
"Girl if you don't get up it's 10:33" I plopped down on the couch and she took a seat next to me. "how has it been since I've been gone?" I managed to ask breaking the silence.
"Well daddy me and Carter went over to tell mom that I was pregnant, but when I got there she had Corahn there." She said all in one breath. She watched as I picked my jaw up with anger in my eyes then it quickly faded.
"Well maybe she had good intentions."
"No she didn't." She said grinding my teeth.
"Wait. Wait. Hold up. You're pregnant?" I asked holding back my excitement I was going to be a grandfather.
"Yes we are pregnant." Carter said in the girliest voice ever. Causing us to laugh.
"That's good. I'm glad you guys are happy. Anyway you need to go talk to your mother."
"Have you seen mom since you've been back in town?" She asked playing with her fingers and looking down.
"No I stopped by here first. After this I'm going to go get some flowers and head home."
"Oh that's sweet. Well you should get going. Love you daddy."
"Love you too baby. and what are you naming my grandchild." I asked.
"Well if you are trying to get the baby's sex out of us then you've failed. Goodbye daddy." She said as Carter walked back in.
"Alright old head." He said laughing at me and dapping me up.
"Alright young bull. I'll see y'all later." And with that being said I walked out the door. I was on my way to the flower shop, when I got a call from my office. I ignored it and bought the roses. I headed home when I got there I saw an extra car but no lights were on. I grabbed the gun I carried in my glove compartment. I walked to the door and it was unlocked. I slowly opened it before feeling someone's presence behind me. I looked back and it was Nova, I shushed her before we walked in. I couldn't believe my eyes. How could she do this? Before I knew it I was firing shots but not at them. I shot holes in a near by wall to control my anger. Then I looked at the roses and shot holes through those. I didn't say anything when Nova's mom looked at me with pleading eyes. I pushed passed her into our room before grabbing my things. I broke a vase on my way out. As I walked down the stairs I heard screaming.
"You bitch I bet you brought him here on purpose." Nova's mom spat at her.
"You hoe I came to apologize to you even though your trifling ass caused me to have a miscarriage and lose one of my twins the last time I came over. So don't you ever talk to me like that again because the next time I will forget you're my mother and drag you." I'd never seen Nova so mad. I didn't know Nova had a miscarriage. My thoughts were interrupted when Jordan tried to touch me. " Don't fucking touch me." I yelled pushing her out the way. I turned to see Corahn had gotten fully dressed and made his way outside. I threw my wedding ring before exiting the house. When I walked outside my adrenaline started pumping. I quickly got him in a choke hold. I watched as he started to turn purple, then I dropped him. When he fell to the ground I saw his chest moving up and down so I knew he was still alive. I got on top of him punching him until I realized what I was doing. I couldn't blame him I knew my wife had something to do with this. I looked up to only see the neighbors staring at me in shock. Some of their faces were painted with fear. I got in the car pulling out as quick as possible I tailed Nova to her house. I got out the car after pulling into the drive way. I immediately felt Nova's arms wrap around my waist as she snuggled into my chest.
"I'm so sorry daddy." She mumbled into my chest. I kissed the top of her head and quickly wiped away her tears. I let go before walking into her house. I noticed Carter wasn't there.
"Dad I know you need to think about some things and rest so the guest room is all yours." I nodded and then asked her
"How did you have a miscarriage?" She let out a long sigh before responding.
"Well I left from her house because I was completely stressed out. I came home and locked myself in the bathroom and then I blacked out. The doctor said I was lucky because he saved one of them. This is my miracle child and I refuse to let her stress me out or make me lose my child. The only person who came to the hospital was Carter. She didn't care so fvck her. She will not have a relationship with my son." She yelled then broke down crying I held her as her tears wet my shirt. Wait did she say 'son'?
"Baby don't cry it's okay. I love you and so does Carter. We are the only people you need in your life. You don't need her and neither do I." We hugged until Carter came home and I figured he could handle it from there.
"What happened?" He asked.
"A lot just hold her." I walked to the room I normally stay in when I'm here. I got in bed and thought about revenge, before I was knocked out.
