"No, Sophie, no."
"Why not?"
"Because theater is your thing, not mine."
"It could be your thing too."
"No thanks. I spent too many years having people group us together. I'm not adding another thing we have in common that they could use."
"It's not a very long list. It can handle one more thing."
"Soph, I'm sorry but I can't."
"Please Eric? It's really important to me. If we don't find an assistant stage manager or a sound designer we might have to cancel the show."
"Seriously?"
"Yes."
"Well I might, and I mean might, be able to help you with the sound designer thing but not the assistant stage manager."
"It's okay, Beatrice is asking one of her friends."
"What does the assistant stage manager even do?"
"Not much. At least, our old one didn't do much because Bea is so great."
"Then why have one?"
"Who knows? I think it's just because the administration is getting all tough."
"Okay then. Who's Bea convincing?"
"I don't know if you know her but she's in our grade. I only know her through Bea actually, I see her at like football games and stuff. I think she wants to be a writer or something. Maybe a photographer..."
"Sophie."
"Yeah?"
"I asked her name not her fragmented life story."
"Oh yeah! Sorry. Her name is Lennon but Bea calls her Len. I'm sure you guys will get along and if not, you won't have to see each other much anyway."
