"Thank you."

"No need, Darlin." He whispered back. I stood between them and, looked back and forth at them.

"I don't know what to do, laugh, cry,-"

"Eat cake?" Sam suggested.

"Bingo." I said, making him laugh. Everyone gathered around the huge square cake that was sitting on the island."That, is a lot of cake." I said. Sam took out a lighter from his pocket and lit the two candles on the cake, a two and a zero. They sang happy birthday and I closed my eyes, made a wish, and blew out the candles. They cheered and I laughed. We all got a piece of cake and something to drink, then found somewhere to sit. I sat on the floor beside Sam. Sandy was sitting in his lap, eating her own cake while he ate his.

"We have to leave by seven and go get ready for the concert." I told Sam.

"I know, I know. Don't worry about that, or anything else for that matter." He told me. He looked up at me,"But you do need to worry about that globe of icing on your mouth." He grinned. I covered my mouth.

"Where?"

"Move your hands." I moved my hands and he used his index finger to wipe the icing off. Then he leaned over and kissed me sweetly, literally.

"Ew." Stevie said loudly, causing everyone to look at us. Sam leaned back and smiled to himself, and so did I. When we finished eating, he stood up and pulled me with him. Some one had turned the radio on earlier and 'I Hope You Dance' was on, so Sam took me to a spot in the room where there was enough space to dance, and put his hands on my waist. I put my arms around his neck and smiled at him. I put my head on his chest as we danced.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,

You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,

May you never take one single breath for granted,

GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

He twirled me around and I giggled.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,

Never settle for the path of least resistance

Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',

Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',

Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,

Dwight and Mary stood up together and started dancing, which made Sam smile widely.

When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,

Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,

Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

Dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance.

I hope you dance....I hope you dance..

(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along

Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

At the end of the song, I reached up and kissed Sam on the lips and said,

"I love you."

"I love you too, baby. Happy birthday.
