You've had the longest and most exhausting day ever
" God I just wanna go to sleeeeep " you sighed yawning
You closed your eyes and almost crashed
" SHIT " you screamed startled
" God that was close "
Minutes later you ultimately arrived home
You kicked off your shoes and went straight upstairs to shower
While you were in the shower your phone started to ring
You slowly walked out and grabbed it to see your best friend layla calling
" I'm showering god-"
" Put on the news " she yelled through the phone
" What?" You asked frowning
" Just turn on the TV and watch the news "
" O-okay you're scaring me are we dying or something"
You quickly ran and turned on the TV
" The Spanish football player Pedri Gonzalez
has just informed his fans on an Instagram story that he has gotten into a car accident three weeks ago, we didn't get to see his face to assume his condition however he reassured his fans that he's doing fine and he's recovering from some slight injuries and ...."
The rest of what the reporter said was hard to grasp you stood there with your vision fully blurry
" Y/n!!!" Layla yelled still on the phone
" Y-yes " you stuttered
" Are you okay?" She said worriedly
" Y-yes I'm fine I- .. I don't know I mean it was three weeks ago don't you think it's because of me-"
" Seriously girl shut the fuck up he didn't crash because you broke up with him he was probably speeding up or something plus he's fine okay I'm sorry for scaring you I just wanted you to know" she sighed
You remained quite for a while
" By the way how come Gavi didn't tell you?"
Layla kept stuttering and avoiding the question
" You didn't know back then right layla??" You said in a high tone
" I didn't want you to worry I wanted you to know like others so you wouldn't feel responsible y/n" she sighed in regret
" This is so messed up " you said holding your head with your left hand anxiously rubbing your forehead
" He's fine okay? Please don't blame yourself or anything Gavi said he was speeding and yes he might've needed you but I know you needed space more so I thought keeping it from you was the wisest thing to do I'm sorry y/n"
" That's fine u-uhm I'm gonna go finish showering and sleep it's been a long day goodnight " and with that you went back to shower
Tears were uncontrollably running down your face
You had mixed feelings about the whole situation
You two broke up four weeks ago and it seemed like the best option however you might've just realized that it was the worst decision you've ever made so far

{A month later }

Pedri went back to regular training and playing like he used to
You were drowning yourself with work so you could get Pedri  out of your mind
You didn't text after learning about the accident
Layla kept you updated and it felt like it was better if keep your distance
It was currently 11 am and as usual you drove back home to rest
You had a quick shower had dinner and went to bed
You were scrolling through your Instagram page til you hear the sound of knocking on the door
At first you ignored it because you assumed that it was probably your neighbor Marine with her sappy pies but the knocking didn't stop and she usually leaves it at your door since you're often late
you got up walking towards the door putting on your night robe
You peeped through the door peephole but you couldn't see anything since it seemed covered? Which terrified you abit
" U-uhm who are you?" You asked slightly panicking
" It's me Pedri" he said in a deep croaky tone
Your eyes widened in surpise but you brushed it off and opened the door for him
And your heart immediately sank
He looked so tired
His dark circles were more apparent than ever
" Are you okay?" You asked softly
" No can I come in? He asked looking down
" Yes sure come in " you said moving out of the way
" Come , sit here " you tapped the empty space of the couch next to you
Pedri said down looking everywhere but into your eyes
" U-uhm can I get you anything? It's cold outside why aren't you wearing a jacket or something?"
" I just stormed out of the locker room I forgot my jacket there " he revealed in a low tone
You got up  to grab him a blanket
" Here " you mumbled putting it around him
" I'll make you some hot chocolate"
He didn't say anything
He wasn't even moving at this point it kind of scared you
You quickly made him a hot chocolate since he's always loved it
" Here you go" you smiled handing him his cup then you sat next to him
Pedri took a small sip of it
" Warm and sweet like always" he Breathed
" Y-yeah " you said weirded out a bit
You two stayed in a comfortable silence for minutes til you managed to break it
" UHM it's okay you know ..  if you need to vent " you whispered
" I mean I wouldn't recommend venting to your ex but you can try " you giggled
You tried to brighten up the mood however it seemed like a failed attempt
" Or you can just-"
He looked up and the first thing you noticed was that his nose was bleeding
" Pedri you're bleeding" you said quickly holding his head up
" I'll get you some ice keep holding your nose"
You quickly ran to the kitchen and came back with a pack of ice
" Don't move Pedri " you blurted gently pressing the ice bag on his nose
A while later the bleeding stopped
" I feel like a burden I-I gotta go" he said hurriedly getting up
You pulled him closer to your chest embracing his weak figure
" You're never a burden to me " you admitted rubbing his back up and down
He just sighed
" Thank you you've always been a safe place to me" he mumbled with a lump in his throat
" I know you've always hated for me to see you cry but you can cry now there's no shame about it"
You comforted him not breaking the hug
You heard Pedri's soft whimpering
" It's just a lot" he whispered through the tears
" I feel like I'm never gonna be enough and I'm never gonna be the best perfect version of myself and-"
" Shhh you can never be perfect, nobody is , and you are more than enough your efforts are seen and appreciated Pedri you gotta learn to be easy on yourself " you said with a soft smile slowly pulling away
You wiped his tears with your robe sleeves
He just stared at you
" Can I stay the night?" He suddenly blurted
You wanted to say no so bad however you couldn't because he clearly needed you
" Y-yeah uhm sure"

{Minutes later}

You were laying in your bed your back facing Pedri

ou couldn't sleep you just kept tossing and turning and same goes for Pedri
You didn't want to face him so you kept looking the other way however you heard him moving so you assumed he's looking to the other side of the bed
The minute you turned around you were faced by him looking right through your soul
" Hi " you awkwardly smiled
" Hi " he said moving closer to your side
" I feel safe here" he murmured sending goosebumps all over your body
" And I feel seen " he moved even closer to you
" And loved " he whispered fiddling with your dark hair
You just stared at him
Hoping he's not able to hear your excessive Heartbeats
" Why didn't you call after I crashed?" He asked
You didn't know what to say because if you come to look at it you didn't have any good answer except that you were afraid of giving in
" I-I thought you wouldn't want me to " you said avoiding eye contact
" Lies" he chuckled
"You've always told me to be brave and never escape my own feelings yet you always end up doing so "
" No I don't " you firmly disagreed
He learned in giving you the sweetest forehead kiss
" You still haven't answered me y/n" he said still playing with your hair
" I broke up with you not too long before it happened and I just couldn't help but think it was my fault " you admitted avoiding his gaze
" Yes it was your fault if you break up with me again I'll crash again huh" he shrugged jokingly catching you by surprise
" W-what I-"
" I'm sorry I didn't make enough time for you give me this last chance and I promise I'm never messing it up " he said rubbing your shoulder
" You're dumb or what? The fact that I let you in my house and in my bed clearly indicates that I forgive you " you laughed
" I love you " he pulled you to his chest
" I love you and if you piss me off again I'm leaving you can die or whatever " you giggled
