Scott's Perspective-

Scott drove up to the Jazz Café and he and Tom sat down at a table.

He and Tom had spoken before, but they became good friends over the past week.

Scott stared out the window.

Tom then sighed.

"Why didn't you talk to him earlier?"

Scott snapped back and laughed nervously, "W-what do you mean?"

Tom rolled his eyes, "You've been talking to me for the past three days about Jimmy and your guy's relationship with each other. You need to talk to him."

Scott scoffed, "Easier said than done."

"I never said it was easy." Tom explained, "I'm just saying what you need to get done. And you know you need to get it done."

Scott didn't say anything.

"You know that dance coming up? Ask him to that."

"It's... it's not that easy." Scott said slowly.

"What do you mean?" Tom asked.

Before Scott could answer, the cashier called up their names.

"I'll get the drinks." Tom said, getting up.

Scott watched as Tom got up and thought about a good answer.

Something that could hide the truth but also be good enough for Tom to believe.

Tom sat back down and passed Scott his drink.

"Now, why is it not easy?" He asked.

"It just... isn't."

Tom smiled sincerely, "I know it's hard to ask someone out, especially now, but trust me it's easy!"

Scott nodded.

It's really not that easy.

Tom then frowned, "There's something else I'm missing, isn't there."

Scott took a sip of his tea and shrugged.

His phone then buzzed.

"What's that?"

Scott checked his phone.

Fuck.

It was an alarm that he put on a year ago and forgot to delete.

It was an alarm to go to Eliot's party.

It was his birthday.

Scott's breath started rushing and he pocketed his phone angrily, blinking back his tears.

"What?" Tom asked, confused.

"I need to go." Scott said, trying to force his voice to sound normal, but it was hard to try and hide the anger and the shakiness of it.

"What was it? Did Jimmy say something?"
Tom asked, looking concerned.

"I just- my mom- need to go."

"Oh..." Tom trailed off, "Well, if it's important I can call my dad to pick me up."

Scott nodded and dashed out.

He had a feeling that Tom knew something else was wrong, but he didn't care at this point.

This day was the worst.

He drove home, crying.

When he entered his home, his mother looked shocked.

"What's wrong?" She exclaimed and Scott broke down sobbing, collapsing to the ground.

His parents rushed over and hugged him, trying to calm him down.

Scott just cried and cried.

He didn't want to explain what was going on.

Eventually, he showed his parents his phone and they understood.

Kind of.

They let Scott go to bed without any more questions but as Scott calmed down and climbed into his bed, he could hear his parents' nervous whispers.

"I thought he got over Eliot." His father whispered.

"It makes sense that he's still upset. I mean, Eliot did cheat on him." His mother whispered.

"But that was over a year ago. I think it's something else." His father whispered.

"Well, let's let him get some sleep. Find out tomorrow."

The Next Day-

Scott got up from a sleepless night.

Everything hurt.

Inside and out.

His phone buzzed and he saw it was Tom asking him where he was.

Scott then realized that he was incredibly late.

"SHIT!"

Scott got dressed and grabbed his things before running into his car.

He started to drive towards school, regretting everything.

He hated his life.

He hated himself.

Scott arrived at school and saw Tom and Jimmy outside.

"You're late." Tom welcomed Scott over.

Jimmy stared at them, looking hurt.

"Hey Tim!"

Jimmy stopped looking at them and turned his attention to Grian.

Tom elbowed Scott, but Scott just shook his head, watching as Grian and Jimmy started walking in a different direction.

"It's going to end up like Eliot." Scott whispered to himself.

Little did he know,

Tom heard him.

Sorry that this chapter is so short but I hope you liked it. Tom is my favorite character and I am planning on using him in other stories (he is in Where Home Is). I hope you have a good day and I will see up in the next chapter!
