Crashhhh

In the midst of battle, Bernard had seen a spot of two red dots blurring past the battlefield and went into one of the tall buildings, before crashing towards the walls of it.

And though he hadn't seen it clearly, he was sure one of the red dot had belonged to his liege. He was sure of it, very much so. And that had made him more worried. His liege was strong, but he was currently not in a condition where he could crush his enemies easily.

He had to go there and made sure his liege was fine,

He wanted to,

He needed to;

But how?

The enemies in front of him were by no means weak, and though he couldn't be really sure. He swore there might be an archmage within their ranks with how impactful the magic attacks were.

Not to mention...

Chsssss

Bernard blocked the black aura that attacked him, then the flying dagger that came flying in– aiming for his neck.

Forget about the archmage, even the swordmaster that was in front of him in broad daylight and the hidden assassin were already pushing him back to this degree. He was sure that he might be put into a corner soon.

Step

Bernard spun his heel and faced his back to where the tower was at.

If he can't escape and dash immediately to his liege, he better play the long waiting game and make his enemies push him towards his destination themself.

He couldn't guarantee the success of it, but at least, when he was close enough, he could simply dash towards the enemy that was near his liege and do That and simply hope the best that his liege could escape and survive.

Clang

Clang

"Why don't you just give up?" The swordmaster asked, and Bernard couldn't help but feel a sense of mild deja-vu. His opponent's face was covered with a cloak and the only part that was visible was his mouth that was spouting nonsense. "You know you'll lose either way"

Had Bernard met this crazy bastard somewhere before?

"Are you sure?"

Bernard took another step back, letting the cloaked swordmaster push him further back

"Because from what I see, you seem to be the anxious one here" He scoffed, clearly taunting the swordmaster in front of him.

And truth be told, he could see the other gritting his teeth in frustration from the simple taunt. This one truly couldn't act or even hide their true expressions at all.

"Haha... What's the matter? Did I hit the nail right on the head?"

"Shut it!"

Psshhhhh

Bernard blocked the sword that was about to slice his torso into two with a barrier and let himself get thrown to the wall that was well over 10 meters away behind him... and a mere 100 meters away from where he thinks his liege was at.

(for reference; a football field in 110 meters long)

"Calm down Choi han, he's taunting you"

"...I know that"

He could hear the voice of an old man warning the swordmaster, it was a benign voice but sounded rather vicious at the same time... and that was when Bernard finally recognized where he had met them before.
