"I don't know what you're talking back," Heat started to rise in my cheeks as I feigned innocence. I tried to hide it from her by lowering my giddy, suppressed smile to the sheets underneath my hands as I started to play with the fabric between my fingers. Even from up here, I could smell the familiar fresh cotton and citrus scent I associated with Fred.
Interesting.
After all those nights I borrowed George's bed, I never smelt this amora on his sheets, but I didn't realise it until now. I always thought their clothes and sheets would smell similar because I assumed it was all washed with the same scents.
"Oh, come off it. You totally do," She pointed her finger at me. Then her jaw dropped as she gasped, "Oh my Godric, are you blushing?"
Her finger extended further as she bounced on the balls of her feet and squealed, "You are! Charlotte Hodges is blushing over Fred Weasley!"
I lifted my hands to calm her as I whispered, "Be quiet. They'll hear you!" But it was useless because I couldn't lower the sound of my own laughter.
"Okay," She pushed her hair behind her ears before she sat down next to me and clenched her fists with excitement, "Tell me everything! What happened at your parents? And remember," Her accusing finger pointed at me again, "I'll know if you leave out any details."
"Put that thing away, will ya?" I swatted her finger away.
We both giggled.
I smiled bashfully as I recounted the other night's events to her, "Well, I didn't notice anything at first until my dad started teaching Fred about the TV..."
Fortunately, Angie grew up around muggles, so she didn't need me to explain their inventions to her like I had to do with Fred or George. This allowed me to spill everything to her freely and unrestrained.
First, I told her about my mother's comment on how cute Fred had become, him almost wrecking my dad's car, the way he looked as we sang along to the music, our first stop to get coffee and how we ran into my ex, Anthony, and what he told Fred.
Then, I informed her of all the places we stopped at, including the thrift shop, and how I couldn't take my eyes off him as he playfully and jokingly modelled the clothes. I even admitted to her the multiple times he caught me checking him out and how I would see him doing the same.
Lastly, I told her about the drive-in and everything that unfolded there. Telling her how he brought up the girl from Egypt and how that turned into this weird battle of trying to make each other jealous. I also mentioned the fact that he brought up Anthony and Isaac.
"You should have seen him, Angie. He was so jealous. I may have just made him uncomfortable, but I really don't think so. The tension wasn't awkward. It was—it was...thick and..." I racked my brain, trying to find the right word. It was on the tip of my tongue.
"Sexual?" Angie smirked as she raised her eyebrows.
My jaw dropped as I started blushing wildly again, "Stop!"
I whinged before hitting her face with my pillow.
"Hey!" She huffed at the impact before laughing at my discomfort. Her gleeful smile returned as she fixed her hair, "I can't believe it! It's finally happening!"
She clapped, "Oh, it's so riveting!"
My brows knitted together, "What's finally happening?"
"You and Fred, of course!" Her grin was unrestrained as her fingers wrapped around my upper arms, "We've all been waiting a long time for this. Just wait until Ginny finds out. She has this bet going that-"
