Chapter 6

" see you in a bit" he says as he kisses my cheek then heads out with Grace and Hope to the grocery store

1 hour later
4 pm

The doorbell rings and John and the kids aren't home

I get up to open the door and it's Shannon

" hey gurl " I say

" heyyy where are the kids"

" out with John " I say as I rub my head

" wow someone seems sad"

" nah just tired"

" lemme help ya with things " she says as she fixes the place up a bit

I've been feeling really tired lately though I don't know why, just been feeling really dizzy

10 minutes later

John and the kids come back

" what took you guys so long"

" the little one here wanted to play in the play area and had to throw a tantrum"

" I'm just glad you're here now where are the things"

" here" he says as he hands me the bags

" Shannon's here in the kitchen by the way"

" oh ok"

He helps me put the things in place as we go to the kitchen and greets Shannon and she starts playing with the kids

8 pm

My family and friends are all here which feels so good when I'm around them

John moved most couches by the pool so we could all watch the fireworks at night and make the place feel good

I got up to go to the kitchen to get some twizzlers and Angela followed me

" you ok Kate?" She asks me in the kitchen

" yeah I'm great"

" you look kinda tired"

" don't worry about me thank you sis"

David walks in

" Katheryn damn your daughter's too sassy "

I laugh

" yeah just like her mother" I say and Angela laughs

I get the twizzlers and we walk back out and I sit next to John

" you should've invited your parents and siblings" I whisper to his ear

" not the time"

All he's ever had with his family is dark memories and he says I made his life brighter which I'm proud of

10 pm

I put Hope in bed then go back down and sit next to Angela

" just 2 hours left!"

" yeah"

Grace comes up to me

" mama I'm tired"

" want me to put you in bed" I ask her

She nods

" Ang your daughter looks tired too"

" mind if I put her up with her"

" not at all"

I carry Grace up as Angela carries Stella and I tuck them both in bed and Angela and I start walking down

" hey Ang is it fine with you if Stella could come to Disney World with John Grace and I for Grace's birthday"

" sure but where will Hope be"

" at moms"

" ok she'll love it, how long are you guys going for"

" 3 days 2 nights"

" ok "

We go back outside and wait till the clock hits 12

"6...5...4...3...2...1 HAPPY NEW YEAR" we all scream

" happy new year" I whisper to Johns ear and kiss his lips and hear some " oohs"

Everyone leaves but Angela Shannon and Johnny

John was cleaning up the kitchen and we were cleaning the backyard and living room

2 am

Shannon and Johnny leave

" hey Ang I just noticed Svend isn't here are things ok"

" yeah he just had some work"

" oh ok"

" can I keep Stella for the night" she asks

" sure"

" thanks I'll pick her up tomorrow at around 1"

" ok see ya" I say as she heads out the door

" John? John?" I call him as I walk up toward the stairs after closing all lights

" here" he says and I hear him whispering for our room

" why are you whispering"

" the kids are sleeping"

" oh yeah " I change into my pj and cuddle up in bed next to him and whisper I his ear

" happy new year"

" you too baby" he kisses my lips and I lay my head on his chest then drift off to sleep

The next day

I wake up and John isn't by my side so I go to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth I go down to the living room and see Grace and Stella there drawing and coloring

" What are you to doing "

" look" Grace says as she shows me what she's drawn

I look at it and it's a drawing of our family

" aw give it to me once you're done so I could hand it up in the fridge"

" okay!"

" what about you Stella"

She shows me her paper and it was a drawing of her family just like Grace's

1 pm

" Stella get ready cause your moms gonna pick you up in a bit"

" ok"

" John these mini tacos are delicious just make them big next time"

" oh Katy" he laughs

5 minutes later the doorbell rings and Angela picks Stella up and they leave

The day goes on normally and we just watch movies all day and fall asleep in the living room and Hope in her crib that's in the living room and Grace falls asleep in her sleeping bag between John and I.
