A few minutes later, a confused Gu Chen came down holding a visibly scared Yang Yimo. Mu Wan walked behind them, raising a laser gun with both hands, cautiously moving around like a soldier scouting out unknown territory.

"Jia, are you alright?"

Yang Yimo immediately let go of Gu Chen to hug Song Jia. She was embarrassed to realize that due to their extreme fright, they didn't even notice that Song Jia wasn't running behind them.

"I'm okay."

Song Jia's eyes moved around. She didn't expose to Xu Jinhai that she knew he was there. She wanted to know to what extent he would follow her.

Song Jia was actually feeling a bit angry. By following her invisibly like this, he was invading her privacy. She knew that he had paranoia, and for the most part, she had already adapted to his extreme possessiveness. But this time, she told him clearly that she wanted to bond alone with her friends, and he still went against her wishes without telling her.

Song Jia had no choice but to lie, "There's no ghost, it was my own mistake. I might have accidentally used voice activation in my phone and called someone. He must have heard our conversation and jumped in."

Voice activation was a very common thing in modern phones, and one could encode emergency key words that would directly call an emergency number.

Mu Wan lowered her laser gun, visibly looking relieved. "So it was like that. For a moment I thought that ghosts really exist in the world. Scared me to death."

Gu Chen patted Yang Yimo. "Don't run so quickly next time, you need to remember that your body is delicate now. Just yell for me."

Song Jia was also ashamed. "Sorry, Yimo."

"It's not your fault, Jia. I was too nervous just now, I didn't think." Yang Yimo caressed her stomach and sat down. "Why don't we all drink hot milk and go to bed? You two must be tired from the travel. I also need to relax. We can chat slowly until we fall asleep."

Gu Chen agreed with his wife. "We'll tour both of you around the city tomorrow, so it's good to rest."

Song Jia nodded her head with an "en" and after everybody got up, she casually brushed her hand at the position she determined Xu Jinhai was located.

Her hand didn't brush against anything. Xu Jinhai was gone.

...

Xu Jinhai also knew he had done something wrong.

It was really bad to follow her like this, but he couldn't help it. Only a few minutes passed after Song Jia left her apartment that he finally couldn't endure and followed her.

It was true that he was worried she would get taken away by someone else. And he also looked up the information of her friends. One of them was single, and although the other had been married, there would still be a man accompanying them. He was also Song Jia's man, couldn't he come?

Still, the main reason he followed her was for her safety. It was a different planet, and even if he contacted Yueji's government and put elite guards around her, could they be better than him, who could stay hidden around her and teleport when there's danger?

Naturally not.

So Xu Jinhai felt confident to follow her. He would stay invisible, and as long as he took precautions, nobody would know.

The result was...

Xu Jinhai sat outside, his hands flat on his knees like a well-behaved schoolboy. He was nearly motionless, his shoulders drooping, his head bent down as he looked sadly at the ground.

A moment later, the door opened and revealed Song Jia. Xu Jinhai immediately stood up, his ice-blue eyes gazing at her.

"Jinhai, come out."

Xu Jinhai stepped forward and as if he got dyed by colors from head to toe, he suddenly became visible. Song Jia looked up at him as he walked towards her.

Xu Jinhai was tall, and his body proportions were even better than most male models with long legs, broad shoulders, and a narrow waist. His jet-black hair was tousled and hung over his eyes, which gave more emphasis to his sculpted jaw and high cheekbones.

He was extremely handsome that it created distance between him and other people, giving him a powerful aura of being out of reach.

Song Jia felt that even if she didn't know his identity of being a male god, she would just automatically be able to pick him out of the crowd because of how much he stood out from the rest.

"Jia, why did you come out? It's cold out here."

Xu Jinhai took off his trench coat and draped it around her shoulders. It was still warm from his body temperature, which was a bit higher than normal people.

Seeing the concern in his eyes, Song Jia felt her anger deflate like a dying balloon.

She helplessly told him, "So you also know it's cold here? Then why did you go outside?"

Xu Jinhai saw that she wasn't angry and immediately acted like a baby, hugging her waist.

"Jia, you aren't mad at me?"

"What's the use of being angry at you? Can it lower my blood pressure?"

"..."

Xu Jinhai coughed and said, "Don't be angry, anger is bad for the heart. I'm sorry Jia. Don't be mad at me, okay?"

"You say sorry but you'll just do it again. Jinhai, do you even regret it? Or are you just regretting it because I found out?"

Song Jia pursed her lips and took the initiative to hold his hands. Xu Jinhai trembled, his body freezing into a statue. He didn't dare move, afraid that he would disturb her and cause her to let go.

"Jinhai, I promise that I'm also trying my best to have a good relationship with you. I know I haven't provided you with enough security, but trust me, okay?"

Song Jia pulled his hand and held it to her chest, close to her heart.

"I promise that while we're dating, I only have eyes for you, I won't look for anyone else."

Feeling that it wasn't enough, she also lifted herself on her toes and dropped a light kiss on his lips.

"So trust me, okay?"

Xu Jinhai froze. After a while, he suddenly squatted down and covered his face with one hand, because his other hand was still being held by her.

When Xu Jinhai looked up at her, his whole face was red. There were stars in his eyes, showing a brilliant light. His voice was hoarse and low-pitched when he finally spoke.

"Okay."

Song Jia smiled and tugged at him. "Stand up already, I'm going to introduce you to them."

Since he was already here, Song Jia decided to tell her friends about him. When she saw Xu Jinhai looking like an abandoned dog outside the house, she also reflected on herself.

A relationship didn't only rely on the effort of one person, but two. Since they were dating, Song Jia felt that she also needed to take responsibility for Xu Jinhai's paranoia.

Xu Jinhai felt touched. He wrecked her bonding time with her friends, but she wasn't mad at him. He stood up and wrapped his arms around Song Jia, bowing his head, overwhelmed with gratitude.

"Jia, I really love you more and more each day," he whispered, kissing her hair. "I feel like I love you so much that it's almost painful."

Song Jia's heart felt like someone had squeezed it. She was almost embarrassed by how much her small actions had touched him.

Because of their extreme gap in height, Song Jia stretched up her arm to pat his head.

"Let's go inside, okay?"

Xu Jinhai kissed her cheek and nodded obediently.

"En, I'll listen to Jia."
