Chapter 2

I opened my eyes and sat up, wincing at the pain I was in. I looked around my surroundings, my heart slightly jumping. Then reality came in and the memory of last night lingered. Rogues attacking and my father telling me to run. My mother leaving without me. I whimpered at the thought and massaged my sore feet, washing them and my dirty face in the water. I looked a mess. My black hair now in rat's tails around my face, my Tiara long gone. My beautiful cream dress, now a mix between cream, brown, green and black. Grass stains and mud layering it. I undid my corset and pulled it off, taking in some well needed oxygen. Those things were clearly never designed by a woman.
I sighed and rubbed my temples, wondering what the hell I should do.

"We should go back, father will be worried" I said to my wolf.

"No.. We need to keep away until we know for sure that it is safe"

I nodded in understanding. I didn't want to die today either. I stood up when a twig snapped behind me, making my blood turn cold. I quickly turned around, to see a big grey wolf stood there, which was just a little bigger than my white one. He growled lowly at me and I bowed my head, showing I meant him no harm. I heard the sound of bones popping making me cringe as he shifted.

"Who are you pup? Your scent is one me nor the pack of smelt before" He ordered.

He must be a Beta.

"Which pack is this please?" I asked him, with authority.

"The Avalanche pack. Now state your buisness"

I sighed in relief. My father always said that the Avalanche pack was one of peace and virtue. I knew I could trust them.

"Beta there is no need to fear me. My name is Princess Elizabeth" I told him.

Realisation dawned on him and he got down and bowed.

"Apologies my lady, for I did not recognise you. Feel free to punish me how you like"

I giggled at him and he looked up at me in question.

"Get up you fool, you don't have to bow to me and I shall not punish you. Now if I was my mother, this would have been a whole different story" I told him, making him chuckle.

"So the stories are true about our fair queen?" He asked me, smiling a genuine smile.

"Unfortunately so" I smiled sadly.

I heard another howl and I gulped.

"Listen your highness, you are not safe here. Many rogues are out around these parts and they have vowed to finish off the Carlson reign" He warned me.

"What do I do?" I asked him, worried.

"You must trust nobody but yourself. Don't shift and keep on running. Tell nobody of who you are or where you came from. If they ask, you are a fellow rogue do you understand me?" He pleaded.

"Why are you helping me sir?" I whispered, feeling sad at the thought of people wanting to hurt me and my family.

"You remind me of my youngest. Now go, runaway princess"

I nodded and hugged him, running due north.

Another hour of running, I stopped in a small clearing bending over and letting out a big breath. I never knew I was this unfit!
Out of nowhere, I was knocked down to the floor, a pair of fangs in my face. I whimpered in fear, my heart pounding in my chest. I never realised packs were like this!

He shifted in front of me and pulled on some shorts, glaring at me. A scar over his torso.

"Rogue, why have you come?" He spat.

'What do I say? He can't know!' I asked my wolf, panicking.

'Go with it' She replied.

"Sorry sir, but I was just passing through. I've lost my family"

He looked concentrated for a moment, before nodding and looking back at me.

"I'm taking you to my Alpha. Try anything and I won't hesitate to rip you limb from limb"

I nodded once as he pulled me up, grabbing my arm roughly and dragging me through the forest. I whimpered as a wolf chuckled at me and snapped at my ankles.

Suddenly, a white house came into veiw and I awed at the sight. It looked like something from Ancient Greece!

"Nice place.... It's on par the the royal palace" I noted.

"And how would you know what a palace looks like?" He asked me, raising a brow.

Think Elizabeth!

"Oh... well a girl can but imagine" I shrugged.

He nodded once and pulled me into the house and down some corridors. We arrived at a set of bronze doors and stopped. My arm was quite sore where the man had grabbed me, so I held up my hand to where he grabbed. I was then pushed through the door and I landed on the floor with a thud.

I looked up to see the most gorgeous man stood there. He was well built with dark brown hair and the brightest green eyes. My wolf yipped in joy as his scent wafted over me like a sugar coated embrace. Vanilla and pine cones. My new favourite smell.

'What's going on?' I asked my wolf, confused as to why I was feeling like this.

"Mate" The man and my wolf said in sync.
