After a couple of moments, Annabeth answered, a faint blush still on her face. She stood up a little straighter and tightened her ponytail. "Yes I do have a boyfriend, and no I'm not answering any questions." The last part seemed to be directed at the little gaggle of Aphrodite campers trying to get her attention. They quickly rushed back to the rest of their half-siblings.
There was then a moment of awkward silence where everyone stood staring at Annabeth, because no one could think of anything to say. Annabeth stood there, her gaze challenging anyone who met it. She reassuringly rested her hand on her drakon bone sword.
Luke noticed and narrowed his eyes. "Bone sword? What happened to the dagger I gave her, she always uses it!" He thought angrily.
"What happened to your dagger?" Luke asked, his voice ringing loudly through the silence.
Annabeth looked down at her sword, and a flash of pain struck her features. Her eyes glazed over for a moment before she shook her head and made eye contact with Luke.
"Just... just an accident on a quest." Her tone ended the conversation. She quickly glanced over at Nico, who was standing behind the crowd with Will, who gave her a sad smile, and then back at her sword. But, while she was moving her head, her hair shifted on her back to reveal a name in bold letters on the back of the hoodie.
The campers who could see her back started whispering to each other and glancing at Percy. He looked confused around him, but glanced at Annabeth's hoodie to see the name Jackson printed in bold letters.
"Why is the name Jackson on the back of your hoodie?" Percy suddenly exclaimed. He had an idea why, but he pushed it to the very back of his mind, he didn't want to think about that. Annie must have had the same thought because she groaned silently.
Luke simply stared at the name Jackson in bold print, unable to think clearly. The only person he knew with the last name Jackson was the boy Percy. He clenched his fists at his side, trying not to look at the boy.
Luke looked at the older Annabeth, and noticed her eyes widening in realization. She must have forgotten about the back of her sweatshirt.
Suddenly, before she could reply, a white light appeared, floating in the middle of the room. It took the form of a small ball, slowly growing second by second.
Everyone hurriedly back away from the light, stumbling over each other and onto the benches and tables. They covered their ears and eyes, preparing for the ringing noise.
Luke took Annie's hand just as the ringing noise started. He dragged her away from the growing mass and covered her ears. The light grew to be blinding, and the ringing noise to be a terrifying screeching. The force of the light threw everyone down to the ground, the gravity of it stopping them from getting up.
Luke crouched down into a ball, trying to shield himself from the force of it. But, once he did that, the growing force disappeared, but the ringing noise echoed still in everyone's ears.
He squinted his eyes open and saw that the future Annabeth, Nico and Will were already standing. They all had their weapons drawn but they weren't standing on guard. Luke wondered how they weren't affected by the force.
Everyone rubbed at their eyes and stumbled onto their feet. They all looked towards the sky, waiting for a monster or demigod to fall from it. They slowly inched closer to the middle of the dining pavilion, peering at the future demigods.
Then out of nowhere, a huge invisible force, like a mighty gust of wind blew in every direction, starting from the center of the hall. It brought a slight scent, like the ocean. Some of the campers started shouting and pointing up at the sky, where a blur was falling. Luke squinted his eyes, trying to make out the figure.
