Sometimes it feels like I'm trapped in a cage of thorns, only to open my eyes and remember I'm the one who refuses to step outside the rose bush. Because while it's filled with more misery than I can bare, there's something so beautiful about the flowers, so warm and comforting as I remember the good times between those who helped me plant them, and I can't bring myself to let go, to only admire the warmth of those memories and the bright colors of the flowers from a distance. Because then maybe I'll forget how wonderful it was up close, and all I'll remember is the pain when the pain is the part I so desperately want to forget but can't imagine a life without. And I fear that if I did walk away, it would only be worse when I inevitably returned or stumble into a new one.
