NARRATOR'S POV

"Shh! Stop making so much noise, you berk -" hisses Fred. Carina and Cassius have just woken up. They stare at each other, standing right outside their respective bedrooms. While Nina's wearing Fred's shirt and a pair of shorts, Cass is wearing his undershirt and George's shorts. It's pretty noticeable that they aren't his own, since they almost cover up his knees.

"- You stop it," whispers George, tone harsh. "You're beating the batter too harshly, you idiot -" Cass and Carina contain their laughter by pursing his lips and covering her mouth with the back of her hand.

"- I don't want it to be lumpy!" Retorts Fred. The funniest part of the whole situation is the fact that they are actually trying their best to be quiet. Meanwhile, Nina and Cass make their way to the kitchen, wanting to see their boyfriends hard at work. The older boy leans into the doorframe, raising an eyebrow as George pours chocolate chips into the batter. "That's too many!" Fred screeches in a dramatic manner.

"No it's not!" Replies George, hushing Fred once again. Carina pokes her head in, but says nothing. The twins' backs are facing them, so they are not aware of their presence in the slightest. "You'll wake them up," he adds, shoving his brother's side for good measure. "You suck at surprises," mutters the younger twin.

At their words, Carina and Cass share a soft look. In that moment, they both decide to walk away, not wanting to interrupt. Cass takes Carina's elbow as they make their way to George's bedroom. "Wow, he's much more organised than I remember," mutters Carina, giving Cass a knowing look. Despite the fact that Cass was slightly messy with his life at Hogwarts, his room was always one of the cleaner ones. He loved colour coding his clothes, and nothing gives him more satisfaction than writing things down before doing them and crossing them out once they are done.

"Oh, shut up," laughs Cass, shaking head as he lays on the newly made bed. "He's still a work in progress." They are both joking, since they know for a fact Fred is the messy twin. "How'd you sleep?" Wonders Cass, leaning into his elbow.

Carina lays down next to her boy, her body facing him as she shrugs. "We didn't get much sleep to be honest," before she'd even finished her sentence, Cass starts making gagging noises, shaking his head. "Oh, shove off. How about you tell me about your night, then?" Asks Carina, raising her eyebrows.

The former Slytherin purses his lips, giving a slight shrug. "Touché," he settles on saying. It gets quiet for a few seconds before Cass breaks the silence once again. "Did you ever imagine this would be us?" He asks. "The Emerald Trio ended up being taken by the three most well known Gryffindors in our year... Ironic, isn't it?" Carina can't help but snort at his statement, nodding in agreement. "I mean, I got disowned, kicked out of my house and started living with George Weasley on the same week, for fucks sake... I almost can't believe it."

Instinctively, Carina takes Cassius' hand, giving it a supportive squeeze. "I'm happy this is where you are," she tells him with a soft smile. "And I mean that physically and emotionally, C." The pair continue talking about how their relationships with their families and friends have changed throughout this past year. "You know who's been writing?" Cass juts his chin forward, as if asking Carina. "Viktor Krum."

Cassius hums in acknowledgement. "You did end up becoming quite good friends, didn't you?" Carina nods in response. "Have you written back to him?" Asks the older Slytherin.

"Not yet... I plan to though. During our last year at Hogwarts I just kind of stopped replying," says Carina, sighing. "I think he's sent a few owls to Fred too, and as far as I know he let him know I'm okay," adds Nina, laying flat on her back next to her friend, who hums in acknowledgement. "I'll write to him tomorrow, how's that?" She suggests as she notices the look on Cassius' face. He hums, nodding.
