IT HAD NOW been six months and counting since Angel had last seen Nico Di Angelo, and he can most definitely say, it had been some of the worst six months of his life. He wasn't sure what it was that was holding him back from bouncing back, but whatever it was, it was making it impossible to do so. It was making it hard to put on his usual grin and act as though he didn't miss Nico so much it physically hurt to talk about him to people who didn't understand.

It was hard to pretend that he didn't mess around with Nico's action figures just to pretend for a moment that he was still with him. It was hard to pretend that he hadn't spent weeks trying to learn and collect Mythomagic cards so that when he saw Nico again, they could play together and Angel could actually give him a challenge. It was hard to pretend like he didn't stop and stare at the new crack in the pavilion and have to act like he didn't know who caused it.

Everything felt harder to pretend and lie about since he left.

If he was being honest, he truly couldn't tell you just why he was so affected by Nico's departure from Camp Half-Blood, his departure from him. He couldn't tell you why he cared so much about him and how worried sick he felt every time he saw him in fragments of his dreams. He couldn't tell you just why he tried so hard to act like nothing was wrong or nothing happened. He couldn't tell you just how hard he tried to push away the thought of Nico to the back of his mind cause dealing with the pain head on was never his strong suit. He tried everything to stop but nothing ever worked.
