Nothing Lasts for Forever

Start from the beginning

I plopped onto the bed and closed my eyes for a while until I heard the bathroom door open. I sat up and crossed my legs. Kieran walked out buttoning the wrists of his dress shirt. He looked up, still messing with the shirt.

"You look tired," He said.

I dropped my head, "Just a little. I'm not used to waking up early,".

"I can tell," Kieran smiled, making the birthmark by his jaw pop.

He finished readying himself and left the scent of him lingering about the room strongly, eating me up entirely. Kieran walked out of the closet, throwing on his jacket. He brushed a few strands of hair aside and set a few things in his pocket before walking up to me. His smell was even stronger the closer he was. He smelled fresh and clean with a breeze of faint cologne. Enough to make you weak.

"What do you think?" He asked playfully.

"Looks good," I answered.

"I'll be back tonight," He cocked his head to the side as he looked at me, "Go back to sleep,".

He reached out and rubbed the top of my head, sliding his touch down the side of my face to cup my face gently. My eyes that were watching the floor moved up to his eyes that looked dangerously confused with himself. As if he were fighting a part of himself.

Kieran shook his head and smiled at me before walking away. I followed behind him quietly and watched as he left the penthouse. He knew I was close behind him before he walked out; he turned around and winked at me playfully before he was gone. I clung to the side of the wall and smiled so hard my mouth hurt. I'm glad he liked the food.

I turned on my heels and strolled back to the room and shut the door behind me like I was some teenage girl who interacted with their longtime crush for the first time. I had my head down as I walked around and when I lifted my head my eyes danced around the room for a while until I saw something shine from the corner of my eyes.

I looked down at it and stopped dead in my tracks, looking at it like it was just a hallucination. No way. No fucking way.

His phone.

My eyes shakily looked around the room, from camera to camera. Luckily the red light hadn't come on. I ran my hands through my hair and let out a weak breath.

"Oh my god," I was barely able to whisper.

I have to grab it now before he checks the cameras.

I didn't hesitate to sprint forward and grab it, stuffing it under my shirt and into the waistband of my shorts. I looked at the camera and saw the red light slowly light up, I pursed my lips and casually walked to the bathroom, trying to be as calm as I could.

The minute I was in the bathroom, free from the cameras, I couldn't stop myself from breathing uncontrollably. It felt like my heart was about to fly out of my chest. He's going to be mad. If he finds out. He always finds out. No. He's gonna kill me.

"Not unless I get help first," I whispered to myself, "We can get to help first before he gets to me,".

I pulled the phone from my shorts and stared at the black screen with an indescribable fear haunting my body. I shakily tapped the screen, turning it on. I held for the emergency call and felt my breath hitch as I pressed in 911. I looked around the room and shut my eyes. It's okay. I'll be okay. He won't be mad. He won't find me.

A whimper escaped my lips as I hit the green dial button. I waited until the line began to ring.

"This 911, what's your emergency?"
