Despite the director's relentless efforts in inviting him to dinner, Jungkook rejected the offer after the surgery.

Eating dinner with a dry and uninteresting old man? It was too boring to even think about.

Plus, it wasn't the director who convinced him to perform the operation. If it had only been him, Jungkook probably wouldn't have accepted it in the first place.

As he walked out of the hospital, Jungkook took out his phone and called his driver to pick him up. Suddenly, he saw a black Jaguar slowing down and stopping in front of him.

The window rolled down, and the young man sitting inside took off his sunglasses. Surprised, he exclaimed, "Jeon Jungkook?!"

"It's been a long time." After recognizing the man inside, Jungkook calmly waved.

"Oh shit, it's really you! You're back and you didn't even tell me?! Get in! We'll find a place to catch up."

Unable to say no, Jungkook got into the black Jaguar.

The owner of the Jaguar was none other than Jungkook's childhood best friend, Bambam.

Just as Jungkook stepped into the car, his phone began to ring.

"You don't need to pick me up, I have things to do. I'll return a little bit later. Put the documents in my office and cancel my appointments this afternoon. That's all." Jungkook hung up immediately.

"You went back to work at JC?" Bambam asked with a laugh.

"Yeah."

"How long has it been?"

"More than a week."

Bambam tapped himself on the head. "Shit, if it weren't for my stupid boss sending me away to study out of town, I would've heard the news of your return a long time ago. But what the hell man? You didn't even call me?"

"I tried to call, but it didn't go through."

"Oh, maybe because we're not allowed to use cell phones during our shift," Bambam said, clearly happy to reunite with Jungkook.

- Half an hour later -

The two men sat down in an elegant tea house. The room had a charming sense of Korean antiquity.

Bambam asked sincerely, "How long has it been? Seven or eight years?"

"Seven years exactly."

"Time sure flies. You were just a stupid kid when you left, and now you're the President of Jeon Corporation! Haha."

"You're one to talk. You were a punk on the street seven years ago, and now you're the director of the Korean national police agency. What a huge change," Jungkook said, picking up the teacup.

"Ugh! My dad said that my grandpa was a cop and he was a cop, so now it's my turn to be one too. He doesn't care whether I get married or have kids, but he would disown me if I didn't become a cop."

"A family of policemen, not bad," Jungkook said lightly.

"Bullshit! I never wanted to be a cop. It pays so little, and there's so much to handle. If you don't get it done, you'll get scolded. Do you think it was easy for me to get to this director position?! I got shot in the stomach in an anti-terrorist operation two years ago. I almost died!" Bambam lifted his shirt to show Jungkook his scars.

"Great. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Jungkook said nonchalantly.

"Get out of here. Stop bullshitting me. I don't mind trading places with you. You can be a police director, and I'll be the president of a business empire!"
