Hope couldn't help but eavesdrop on Ashley and David. She didn't mean to but they were talking about Harry Potter and she couldn't hold herself back. "Poor boy has been going through a lot." Ashley's soft voice was almost impossible for Hope to hear but she nevertheless did.

"And Hope too." David added with a sigh making the girl at the door jump away in surprise.

Relax, she mentally muttered and pressed her ear to the door. The sudden ring of the doorbell startled Hope and she pulled herself away from the door and ran all the way up to the stairs with all her might.

She closed the door behind herself and slipped down, trying to catch up her breath. Once she had finally calmed down, she found herself lost in a train of thoughts.

Should she write to Harry, she wondered, asking if he was doing okay. That would be so obvious and random though, Hope thought and discarded the idea.

Sighing, she got up from the floor and looked around her room, searching for some random book she could read. Her friends, Pansy and Theodore, hardly wrote to her which was unlike them but Hope knew the reason.

It was because of the fact that there was a war brewing up outside. She laid down on her bed with the book and flipped it open, looking for the page she had last stopped at.

"Hope!" Hearing Ashley's urgent voice, Hope placed the book on her bed and rushed downstairs.

"Yes, Ashley?" She asked, slightly out of breath as she stood in front of the older woman who seemed to have a conversation going on with someone over the phone.

"Pansy is on the line." Ashley informed, holding out the telephone for her to take. Hope was surprised to say the least. Out of everyone, she didn't expect Pansy to call her using a telephone, a muggle device.

"Uh. . . Hello?" Hope spoke, her eyes lingering on Ashley who walked right in the kitchen to give some space to Hope to talk.

"Hope!" Pansy's excited voice spoke from the other side making Hope smile slightly.

"Yeah, what's wrong? Are you really calling me on a telephone? Wow."

"It's because I'm not allowed to write you over the summer." Pansy sighed,"Considering that you're half blood and if anyone found out, father would be the one at stake so he warned me not to."

"Ah. . ." Hope really didn't know what to reply so she kept quiet. "Calm down boys, let me talk to her." Pansy said to someone and that's when Hope heard some faint, soft whispers and whines.

"Do you wanna meet up? We all miss you." Pansy murmured with a sigh.

Hope chuckled lightly,"I'm literally dying to meet you."

"That's great then! Meet us at the leaky couldron."

Hope couldn't help but wonder what she meant by we.

"Uh alright. I just have to go and ask Ashley." Hope muttered, afraid that Ashley won't let her go. Hope hung up and walked right into the kitchen earning a small smile from Ashley. "As-"

"Don't tell me you wanna go out to meet up with your friends when there's a war brewing outside." Ashley sighed, chopping the tomatoes carefully. "Ash-"

"Hope, it's dangerous for you to go outside. Try to understand honey." Ashley sighed, putting the knife away and approached Hope,"It's for your own safety. Just stay home. You're much safer here."

Hope felt like crying. She had enough of everything. She wasn't even allowed to meet her friends now. And Voldemort didn't know about her existence so she was safe. . Right?

 Right, her inner voice answered.

"Is it okay Hope?" Ashley smiled, squeezing her shoulders as if to say she was sorry.

"No. It's not." Hope shook her head aggressively, tears blurring her vision,"It never was okay. Why don't you understand Ashley? I've been feeling so alone, so lonely these days. I don't even have an idea about my brother. I'm worried about him and yet you hardly let me ask about his condition. And now you don't want me to meet my friends? I don't understand you."

"Hope, dear, It hurts me to see you like this but it's for your own good." Ashley said softly.

"Stop that." Hope exclaimed rather harshly and with a last glare at Ashley, she ran up to her room upstairs and collapsed on the bed.
