𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐃

never been your thing. that was until you met mina. her snarky behavior and attitude had never settled with you, and you weren't going to take it either. it was like an irk, something that would continuously bother you until you did something about it, but at this certain point, you weren't even sure there was a cure to this.

but you couldn't do anything else without confronting said girl. you had been dreading the moment since the night you came back, but as you saw her more everyday, the gap you would choose to avoid her increasingly became slimmer, and you knew at a certain point you wouldn't be able to choose that option anymore.

you and mina cross path's a couple of nights after you first arrive. it hadn't been the first time, so you weren't anticipating for her footsteps to abruptly stop. yours falter as well, and you turn back to find her already looking at you. the silence was the only thing prominent in the dorm hallways, and you find your nerves prick in the wait.

"we should talk," was all she had said, which led you to her dorm room. she sat on her bed, arms crossed and her face, an obvious scowl, looking right at you. you mimicked her body expression, but your face was blank. your wrist had healed significantly since the accident, but you swore you felt a slight pang in it whilst you were near her. it was unsettling.

"you wanted to talk. talk." your arms uncross, instead, sliding into the pockets of your shorts. she sucks her teeth, uncrossing her arms as well and holding onto the ledge of the bed. she opened her mouth, then closed it, looking as if she was trying to collect her thoughts. you gave her a minute, the struggling crunch in her face making you cringe a bit, but nonetheless, you keep quiet.

"do you really like ei? like really really like him?" her hold on the comforter grew tighter, her knuckles going white from the grip. it had only been one of the smaller details that you picked up on, but her face was screwed with something you couldn't uncover. the question caused you to blink a few times more than you usually would, but it was a straightfoward question, so you gave a straightforward answer.

"i do." her eyes find yours, her foggy emotion clear as ever. guilt.

"why?"

"you wanna know why i like him—"

"no. why you?" she let her head fall, her fingers fidgeting with her skirt. you furrow your eyebrows, but there was no anger behind it. you were confused. your stance limps, your shoulders slumping down from its tense position, but your eyes didn't stop flickering between her screwed face and her odd shifting.

"why did he have to fall for someone like you."

"what's that supposed to mean." your arms go back to its crossed state, but no matter how frustrated you were at the current moment, you couldn't seem to get mad at her. her expressions held more than you could differentiate and it drew more pity than anything else, so you stood there and listened.

"he loves you. loves you more than he could ever love me." she rests her face on her palm, her cheek roughly squishing against it. "i wish— i wish he never met you because if he hadn't. . maybe i would still have a chance."

"you cheated on him." you barely let out in a whisper. she winces at that, looking away at her poster filled wall.

"yeah. .yeah i did, but i wanted you to know that it was possibly the worst mistake i've ever made." she snaps her head, tears prickling in her eyes. her voice was wobbly, her lip slightly quivering as her breath came out jagged. "i—i'm sorry? no no, i'm sorry. you don't have to forgive me, but i see it now. i really, really, see it." as she spoke, you find yourself in front of her, kneeling down to find her eyes that she hid behind her puffed hair. your hand finds her knee, rubbing soft circles on the cap. she looks up, startled by the sudden intrusion, but doesn't bother to make another move. you force a small smile, and that had reached her breaking point, her sobs echoing in the room. her arms tightly wrap around your neck. you sat there, allowing her to cry on your shoulder, even though you made no move to comfort back.

after a little while, she pulled away, her eyes swollen and puffing red. you sit back, letting your knee relax from the uncomfortable position.

then silence. you didn't know what her motives were, or what she really wanted to talk to you about, but you patiently sat there, waiting, hoping, for anything else.

nothing else came.

eventually you stood up, keeping your eyes on her, but she made no single move.

you walked out.

you couldn't help but to let any other scenario play in your head, wondering how that could've went any differently, but no matter how the scenarios flashed in your head, the outcome of the true event brought you peace, and you had one less thing to worry about, or so you hoped.
