Sunlight shines on my face forcing me to squeeze my shut eyes. I move, reaching my hand out only to find the space next to me cold. My eyes opened instantly to find that Red was no longer in bed next to me and I was in bed alone.

Where was she?

Ping.

The familiar sound of a message on my phone meets my ears. Pulling the cover off, I walked over to the clothes I had on yesterday, which was folded neatly on her chair, and grabbed my phone.

One missed call from my mom.

Two from each of my grandparents.

Two from my dad.

Three from Vince plus a voicemail.

Six from Adrian plus three messages.

Ten from Jules plus six messages.

With a sigh, I scrolled to my messages first.

Adrian: Where did you go?
Adrian: At least tell me you are safe.
Adrian: Call or text me when you can.

I tap the chat bubble and sent him a quick response.

Me: I'm safe. No need to worry about me.

I exit his messages and go to Jules.

Jules: Are you safe?
Jules: Are you okay?
Jules: You better answer me, Mercer.
Jules: It's been hours. You're starting to worry me.
Jules: If you don't call me back, I will tell Gen.
Jules: Please just let me know you're alright.

Just as I go to respond to Jules's messages Blaze's name lights up my screen. I was close to pressing the red button when I smelt something like food.

Was my Red cooking?

Deciding to make this quick, I answered his phone call. "What's up?"

"I should be asking you. I'm on the phone with Jules and she's been demanding that I tell her where you are."
