"What's with the long face?" Brynn questions as she throws three dresses onto my bed that she brought from her house

That text that I got in Harper's car were from my mother herself.

Honestly I was beginning to think that she forgot all about me.

'Good Evening, Rosemary. I will be arriving home late tonight and will be staying for the coming six weeks. I expect that not a pillow is out of place upon my arrival. With regards, Mom.'

Even when it came to texting me she made it seem like she was talking to a client whom she was trying to make a lucrative deal with.

"My mom is coming home tonight" I inform my best friend

Brynn pauses in the midst of adjusting the tops of her own dress that she plans on wearing to the concert.

She looks nice, it just seems a bit excessive for a pop punk band concert.

"No fucking way"

I silently nod my head.

"She would pick tonight of all nights to check on me, you know...to make sure I'm not dead" I roll my eyes

A mischievous look makes its way onto Brynn's face as she stares at me.

I furrow my eyebrows at this.

"What?" I ask

"Does your Mom still expect you to be in bed by eight thirty?" She asks

I nod my head.

While I, an eighteen year old girl, have a curfew it is not like I have someone here enforcing it upon me.

Brynn practically jumps for joy at my confirmation.

"Great! Then we have nothing to worry about!"

I give her an incredulous facial expression.

Is she actually listening to me or is it just going in one ear and out of the other?

"Nothing to worry about? Brynn, my Mom is going to be here by the time the concert starts. I can't go, I have to stay here" I say

The blue haired girl releases an overdramatized groan.

"Yes you can, we just have to make it look like you're asleep in here,"

"All of the lights will be off anyways so it'll be easy!" She brushes my valid points off as needless worries

I roll my eyes at my best friend once again.
