I pulled out the black swivel chair—with my powers—from the rectangularish space under the table and sat on it, instantly feeling a bit calmer. There wasn't exactly a need for me to sleep right beside him, I could just watch over him from this chair.

"What, are you gonna' sleep on the chair?" Mammon questioned as he tugged off his jumper, putting his bare torso on view.

        "Yeah..."

"Are you sure? That chair isn't so comfortable."

"I'm sure, I've slept on worse."

        "Like what?"

"Well in Heaven, there's this marble gazebo on the edge of a cliff, and I'd always sleep there."

"Bloody devil, your poor back," the raven-haired replied as he stepped towards the doorframe. "Anyway I'll be right back I needa' piss."

I scoffed at his blunt response before observing what his room had to offer. The scrunched up duvet, the maroon hoodie perched on it, the scores of empty water bottles placed all around the room, and the floral scent of his diffuser. All of those sights still left me with the same question—how the hell did I get myself here? I used to be a mere throne, keeping all the other angels in the two spheres in check, like a Shepard with sheep, and spent the free time I had with Mikkel. But now, I was watching over a demon because he had nightmares. It would sound utterly absurd to others.

I could hear the bathroom door open and feel his aura getting closer before the lights turned off.

       "Mind turning on the lamp?"

I kept my hands on my lap, and stared at the table lamp before it switched on.

"Creepy," the raven-haired commented quietly as he sat down and lifted his legs up onto the bed.

"You're just mad that you don't have cool abilities okay."

Whilst laughing, he turned on his side to face me. "You sure you wanna' sleep on that chair? You could always just sleep on one side of the bed, and I could sleep on the other."

"No no, it's alright. I'm fine on the chair." I redirected my gaze from his tattooed body to the pillow.

       "You like...a hundred percent sure?"

"Yes Mammon...now go to sleep," I said indolently as my eyes shut off the lamp, resulting in darkness laving us.

"Fine angel," he muttered, turning onto his back. I closed my eyes after initiating mind's eye so that my core could watch over him whilst I slept. An angel's core remained conscious while the mind and body slept. One could use it to their advantage, or simply let it moniter the surroundings as they slumbered. It was a piece of God he himself had given us at birth; it was our life source, our protector and our watcher. (Uriel always told me that our core was God's baby shower gift, and Eva would always slap him because of it.)

Mammon began shifting in his bed, instantly catching my core's attention. I knew he wasn't having a nightmare but still, I opened my eyes, deactivating mind's eye in the process. I should probably stay awake until Mammon was completely asleep. I watched as he continued to toss and turn with a part of me craving to intervene. But I knew that these rustle-emitting movements were normal for many that tried to sleep; and I thought that was the case with Mammon, until he got up from his bed. "Where are you going?"

The raven-haired walked around the double bed, and stopped before me. What the hell? I was a bit startled, but not on full alert. Hypothetically speaking, if he were to attack me, I could easily stop him with my eyes. We stared at each other for a couple seconds more before I opened my mouth, "Ma-"
