"C'mon, let's put away your stuff and find you a seat," My mum advised as she led me away from the entrance of the platform.
After we loaded up my stuff, I turned and gave her the biggest hug that I had ever given her in my whole entire life.
Burrying my face into her abdomen, my voice muffled as I spoke, "I'm going to miss you so much."
She hugged me back tightly, "I'm going to miss you too," she placed her hands on my shoulders and knelt down to my level, "But you're going to have so much fun at Hogwarts. I wish I was going with you."
"Aren't you a little too old for that?" I joked, lifting an eyebrow.
"Oh, yeah, I'm definitely going to miss you," She responded sarcastically.
We hugged again before I started walking to the train. With one last look over my shoulder, we waved goodbye before I disappeared through the door.
Once aboard, I entered the first empty compartment I came across and sat down, placing my bag next to me.
I looked out the window when the train started moving and I couldn't even begin to describe the feeling of watching the scenery change from London to an open field with a sunny blue sky. It will probably be my favourite part of the train ride every year from now on.
"Excuse me?" A voice broke me from my daydream. I turned to the compartment door and saw a redheaded boy standing there. He had brown eyes and freckles on his face and was taller and skinner than most kids I've been around. His fair skin practically brighten as the sunlight seeping through the window radiated across it.
"Yes?" I asked.
He walked through the door and held something out to me, "This fell out of your bag."
Looking at his hand, I noticed he was holding out a black tie with the Hogwarts emblem stitched into it.
"Thank you," I said, taking the tie from him and putting it back into my bag.
"No problem," He responded before inviting himself to sit down in the seat across from me, not that I minded. The boy sat his bag down before he continued, "Personally, I don't understand why they make us wear those bloody things. My brother, Charlie, says we only wear them long enough to walk into The Great Hall."
"I don't know. I heard there's a ceremony and a huge dinner that we have to wear them to. Apparently, it's a pretty big deal, " I spoke with a sarcastic grin, referring to the 'Start of Term Feast' Hogwarts threw yearly.
"Yeah, but once we're sorted, we just throw them away when we get to the dormitories," He chuckled slightly and held out his hand, "I'm Fred Weasley, by the way."
I shook it with a smile, "Charlotte Hodges."
"It's very nice to meet you, Charlotte Hodges," He replied as a cheeky grin cut into his cheeks.
"Fred! There you are!" Another boy called as he came through the door, "Where did you go? I was pulling my bag onto the train, and when I turned around, you were just gone!"
"Well, obviously, I came in here," Fred jested as his palm gestured across the compartment.
The other boy rolled his eyes, "Shut up," he then turned his head to look at me and smiled politely, "Hi. I'm George."
He, too, invited himself to sit down. I almost didn't notice it until he sat beside Fred, but I gaped when I did. The boys were identical!
Fred twisted the corner of his mouth up before taunting his brother, "I know; he's pretty ugly. I make that same face when I look at him, too."
