Next update, whenever, this book has never had official update date I just made it seem like it did

"Hey... You're Kudo Shinichi, the detective?"

Shinichi blinked, eyeing the man that had walked up to him. His features were average and he looked pale, possibly sick "Yes, do you know anything about the current missing persons case?" It would be hard to not know about it with how much effort had already been put into it.

"Maybe" The man gave a small nervous shrug "I think I saw some people going into the woods before the storm got bad enough to force me indoors"

The sleuth perked up "Why didn't you say anything sooner?"

Grimacing, the man looking guilty "I wasn't sure and only one person is missing instead of a few people"

Shinichi frowned "Do you remember which direction they went?" It was worth a shot, there weren't any other leads after all.

"Um..." The man stuttered a bit, then pointed towards the left "That way" He paused "I think there's a small shed that way, but I'm not sure. It's been a while so it might have fallen down by now"

"Tell me where the shed is"

The man offered nervous directions.

"So we're looking for a shed that may or may not be housing Kuroba?" Saguru inquired as they trudged through the snow, it was deep, difficult to walk through.

"Yeah, it's not like we have any other sort of clue and a shelter would be something I'd want to seek out in a snowstorm" Shinichi stated, looking down at his phone. The man had been kind enough to circle the shed's approximate location on the digital map. He grimaced at the distance they'd already walked "I still can't believe that the search team didn't even head for the shed"

Saguru hummed in agreement "It's understandable, it wasn't on the local maps so most people have probably forgotten about it" That didn't mean that he wasn't annoyed about it though, maps should be kept more up to date, especially ones that had forested areas.

The sleuth scowled "What's not understandable is that we weren't given anything but a sled to bring Kuroba-kun back with, what if he's gotten himself injured?" The search team had burned themselves out, but thankfully a kid had offered up his new sled for them to drag behind them. At most it would hold an adult's upper half, leaving the legs to drag in the snow. Saguru was the one currently dragging the sled, though soon it would be his turn to drag it instead of walking behind the path made by said sled.

"They're tired and think that he's already dead" Saguru didn't believe it, his classmate was too resourceful to just die quietly.

"Hey, could that be the dip?" Shinichi asked, noting that the trees looked to be descending in elevation a bit further up.

"It's possible" Saguru squinted "I think I see a trail?" It was hard to see anything with how bright everything was. Thankfully they'd both adorned some sunglasses. The two detectives hastened their pace until they reached the spot where the elevation started to descend "There's the shed" It was mostly buried at the bottom of the slopes that surrounded it.

"And the trail for sure" Shinichi breathed. There was a trail leading from the shed, in the opposite direction that would have led to the city "Would he really get that lost?" Shinichi asked, taking a step to descend down the slope. He underestimated the dip though and ended up stumbling then falling down the slope and getting buried in snow.

Saguru hurried over, just reaching Shinichi as the other unburied himself from the snow "I suppose we should have expected this since the shed is surrounded by slopes" How was the thing still standing? Surely it was the perfect place to get flooded. Maybe there were drains nearby, ones currently covered by the snow.

"Let's just get to the other trail" Shinichi sighed, a bit embarrassed at his stumble.

"The amount of blood is concerning..." Saguru stated, eyeing the stained snow warily, there was even more blood in the shed.

"It stops further out" Shinichi called, having walked further ahead. It concerned the sleuth that the path didn't seem to be very straight, it curved more than it should for no obvious reason "Maybe he hit his head?"

Saguru grimaced at the thought "That is actually very possible, Kuroba isn't good with ice. He never fails to fall on it" That would explain away the blood, head wounds bled a lot.

Shinichi laughed "You're joking" There was no way Kaitou Kid's weakness was something as simple as ice, the guy's sense of balance was too good for that.

The blond shook his head "Unfortunately I'm not" He sighed "His weakness is strange, but true all the same"

"Wow" Shinichi snickered, following the trail, Saguru right behind him. Occasionally they'd come across an obvious resting spot, though they soon grew to be worryingly frequent. The sleuth's amusement started to fall as it became obvious that the magician was probably concussed, and resting a lot, hopefully just resting, not passing out.

Saguru frowned "We should call the search team, we're obviously on the right track" And they'd be able to bring the appropriate medical supplies to help his classmate.

"Yeah..." They didn't stop walking as Shinichi made the call, only speeding up their pace once he put his phone away. When they spotted someone laying on the ground, they ran.

"It's Kuroba" Saguru confirmed once they'd moved the unconscious magician so that he was no longer face first on the ground. The teen looked pale, and very bloody, though thankfully the blood wasn't fresh "He's breathing fine, but his pulse is weak" Kaito's body also seemed to radiate more heat than it was supposed to "He has a fever..."

Shinichi forced down his curiosity at seeing the other's actual face, the guy really did look like him "We should start dragging him back, that way the time he'll be outside will be shortened" He didn't want the fever to get any worse. Shinichi eyed Kaito, having him conscious would help. He bent down and spoke into his ear "Got you Kid" He frowned when the other didn't even twitch.

"That should have woken him up..." Saguru stated, concerned. Kaito apparently only slept soundly when he was in his own bed according to Aoko.
