Ribbonkit softly creeped out of the nursery. Then, she saw her. Inkpaw. Lying on the ground with blood oozing out of her neck, also laying in her own crimson pool. "Inkpaw!" The kit squealed, rushing over to the bleeding apprentice. Usually, Ribbonkit hated getting her beautiful white pelt dirty but she didn't care now. All she wanted was Inkpaw to be okay.

"I didn't try to kill her!" The white tom who harmed Ribbonkit's mother, Gullpaw. Ribbonkit glared at the tom, her eyes were chips of ice. Wait... "You killed her?" Ribbonkit shot up, wailing. Gullpaw looked to the kit, eyes widening. "She can't be dead! Inkpaw!" Ribbonkit screeched as the two medicine cats swooped her away. Ribbonkit was scooped up and cradled by Dirtpaw, who was also crying. The two cats sobbed and wailed. All Ribbonkit wanted was to have her mother back.
