Chapter Twenty One

Making their way back to the bounty. Cole, Jay, and Nya ran into the control room where they looked to the others.

Lloyd has sitting down at the table with a cup of urbal tea with his mother, Wu, and Zane.

Jay walked over and spoke. "What happened? Is Lloyd alright? Did Morro escape with the book and files?" Jay asked.

Misako shook her head. "We still have the book," She said, holding it up. "But I can't say the same for the files..."

Nya sighed. "And we were so close..." she said before looking down.

Wu shook his head. "Not everything is lost."

Misako nodded. "That's right, while you were searching, I managed to get closer in translating a couple of things from the book. I just need time to put them together and decode it.

Cole smiled. "Thats great! But... what's wrong with Lloyd?"

"We don't know, Lloyd?" Skylor asked.

Lloyd slowly shook his head. "I'm not sure... all I can remember was going towards Morro for an attack and then there was this loud painful ringing and my body began to feel cold and... everything was growing dark and my head began to hurt..." He said. "It was like... I- I don't know what it was." He said before gripping the fabric of his suit from over his heart. He could only recall the feeling... the coldness, it was like seeing through something else's vision.

Wu frowned a ran his hand over his beard as he thought for moment. "Skylor..., do you know what triggered this?" He asked.

Skylor looked at him before nodding "yeah, it was at the exhibit that was close by the research room."

Zane immediately stepped up, casting a hologram of the room and its artifacts.

Skylor looked at the holographic image of the room and its artifacts and items of history before pointing at the gong once she spotted it. "There it is." She said, pointing at the ancient artifact.

Zane placed out his hands, touching the screen before pulling up a larger picture of the gong for the others to get a better look.

Lloyd nodded in agreement. "That's what I heard before it all happened, before I felt cold and strange. But why did it affect me and not Morro?" He asked. Both of them where close to hear it. So why only him?

Misako looked at the gong and hummed. Looking over at it's monstrous and strange carvings. Then she gasped. "Wu, is that what I think it is?" She asked before looking at him.

Wu nodded. "It is... oni..."

Jay frowned. "Uh... the what now?" He asked.

"Oni..., destructive creatures from another realm... The realm where the first spinjitzu master truly came from..." Wu said looking to Jay before back at the symbols and carvings.

Lloyd frowned. "The first spinjitzu master was from a realm of demons?"

Wu shook his head. "No..., not just that. He was from the very first realm. The realm of oni and dragons... Born from both sides... creation and destruction... light and darkness... a world of two species that constantly fought one another. It wasn't until that both kind fought over him for which side he should choose that he ran away, away to this very realm. Where he forged it to what we have been protecting, our home..."

Jay frowned. "Uh... I'm not getting what you're trying to say."

Wu looked at him and spoke. "Lloyd... what you felt was your inner oni half..."

Lloyd looked at him and his eyes widened and so did the other ninja's as they stared in shock. "What..?" He said in disbelief. "B-But... how?" He asked.

Wu lowered his head and spoke. "Because of your grandfather..." Wu said. "Becuase he was born of both sides. His sons were born with one side while you were born of both like he was."

"Is that why he looked so monstrous when he was evil?" Jay asked, earning a glare from the Lloyd, Misako, and few others "What?" He asked while looking at the others.

Wu just sighed. "Yes, and it was the great serpent's poison that awakened it. But he had managed to keep it under control for a few years before the darkness took over." He said and lowered his head.

Lloyd went silent. "Then... what happens now?" He said as he wasn't sure what to think of himself anymore.

Wu looked at him and lowered his head. "I'm not sure... But I do not believe it will harm you unless you allow it to. It is a part you, not against you, unless you allow it to be." He said before looking to the ninja. "Now... return to your rooms. Regain your strength, we must be ready for Morro's next move..."

He said and the ninja left as the night sky filled the air.
