our trip in cincinnati ended quickly.

joe's dinner went amazing, he loved all of his teammates. he couldn't stop talking about how happy he was to see ja'marr again. it made me very happy for him.

we didn't end up going out the next day because we were both tired and missed being at home, as weird as it sounds. we were almost done with our drive home.

music was playing softly in the background as i leaned onto the window and looked out of it. joe and my hands were interlocked.

"you look gorgeous today baby," joe said cutting through our silence

"thank you joey" i said giving him a small smile

although i was only in sweatpants and a tshirt, joe would always think i looked gorgeous in whatever i was wearing.

we continued to sit in silence as music kept playing. he let go of my hand as he turned into our neighborhood. i was excited to be home.

taylor would be here in two days meaning i would get to hang out with her every night. that brought me more excitement than before.

after a minute he pulled into my driveway so i could bring my things in first. i unplugged my phone and got out of the car with joe. we went to the back of the car and got my suitcase out

he handed it to me and i held it.

"i'm gonna go home and rest. i will see you tonight maybe?" he asked

"yeah totally. be safe" i said before reaching up to kiss his cheek.

"see ya darling" he said kissing my forehead then getting back in his car.

i dragged my suitcase behind me as i walked into my parents house. i set my bag down and walked into the kitchen to find my parents sitting there in silence

"i'm home" i said grabbing a water out of the fridge snd taking a drink

"hey honey, can we talk to you?" my mom said making me sit down at the kitchen island

"what's up?" i asked and my dad sighed

"grandma erma passed yesterday night" my dad said.

i took in a deep breath, trying to process my feelings and my mood. my grandma was my dad's mom. she was my best friend. i loved her so much.

"oh" was all i could say.

"she died from a heart attack. she wasn't doing well before her passing anyways." my dad spoke

"i know. i just need to process my feelings. it just doesn't feel real yet" i commented and both of my parents nodded

"we understand hope. go upstairs and rest. if you need anything, let us know" my mom said

"i will" i sigh before getting up.

i got my bag and carried it up to my room. i tiredly and sadly paced my room confused by how this could happen.

suddenly my phone started to ring. i looked at it to see joe calling. i sighed and answered

"hello?" i questioned

"why are you pacing your room like a mad man?" he asked making me look out my window to find him standing at his window

"my grandma passed away last night"
