62. Celebrate!

"I can't believe that she isn't awake yet," Maya grumbled as she lay in bed, wrapped up in Carina's arms. It was the morning of Maddie's 14th birthday and Maya was getting impatient waiting for their daughter to wake up.

"Bella, she's a teenager. You know how is it," Carina said amusedly as she pressed kisses to Maya's bare shoulders. "She will wake up when she does," she stated.

"I know, I just thought that with it being her birthday that she would at least wake up early," Maya commented.

Carina couldn't help but chuckle at Maya's effort to be patient. "I'm not sure who is more excited, you or the Bambina?" she teased.

Maya looked up at her girlfriend and pouted. "I can't wait for her to open her presents. It's her first birthday that she is going to be spending with us so I want the day to be perfect!" she told her wife.

"And it will be Bella," Carina smiled as she glanced over to the end of the bed where it lay a sleeping dachshund puppy that Maya had picked up late last night from Deans' who had looked after it for the previous day, considering it would be difficult to hide it from Maddie throughout the day. Both women were surprised that the dachshund puppy was so content just to lay down and sleep. "Now, what do you say that we enjoy some time to ourselves before the teenager wakes up?" she questioned as she grinned.

"Oh, now, I do like the sound of that!" Maya said as she stared at her wife lovingly before they dove under the covers and enjoyed some intimate time between the two of them.

Maddie lay lazily on her front as she slept, one hand under a pillow while the other rested on top of it, deep in sleep until the vibrations of her phone brought her out of her peaceful sleep.

"Hello?" Maddie answered the face time call still half asleep.

"Happy birthday, babe!" Sarah exclaimed through the phone

Maddie smiled seeing her girlfriend on the other side of the phone screen and sat up further in bed. "Thank you, babe! Will I get to see you today?" she questioned.

"Of course, you will!" Sarah grinned from ear to ear.

"Good, I cannot wait to see you!" Maddie exclaimed, happy at the prospect of seeing her girlfriend on her birthday. "Oh, God, seriously?" she groaned suddenly.

"What's the matter?" Sarah asked confused.

Maddie pulled a face and shook her head. "My moms are doing the nasty again, seriously, today of all days," she grumbled.

Sarah couldn't help but chuckle. "Oh dear," she stated, a knock on the door made her smile falter. "Crap, that's my mom. I've got to go but I will see you later, birthday girl. I love you," she whispered through the phone.

Maddie smiled softly at her girlfriend who looked wearily in case her mom walked through the door. "I love you too," she spoke before the phone call ended and threw her head back against her pillow.

"Morning," Maddie said as she yawned and walked through to the kitchen with her bedhead.

"Hey! There's our birthday girl," Maya exclaimed as she spotted the younger blonde in their eyesight.

"We were wondering when you were going to wake up," Carina teased the teenager. "Happy birthday, Bambina!" she said softly.

"Thank you," Maddie smiled as she accepted the glass of orange juice that Carina held out to her.

"We made you pancakes for breakfast- Well actually, mama made you pancakes, my attempts in the kitchen were poor," Maya told her daughter who laughed amusedly.
