I opened my eyes. It was a Saturday morning. The sun was shining through my curtains, as always. I lifted myself out of bed. I always wanted to sleep in late on school days, but on weekends I always woke up early. I felt like I had just woken up from a crazy dream. But it hadn't been a dream. It had been real. And then the thought finally hit me. I had kissed someone. More than kissed. I had made out with someone, but not just anyone. Lucas Williams, the hottest guy at my school, and my best friend in pre-school. Woah. I took a deep breath. Ding! My phone went off. I picked it up, anxiously looking for a text form Lucas. There it was. His text.
'Hey Z. I just wanted to make sure you slept great.'
A warm smile formed on my face.
'Yep, just got up. Last night felt like a crazy dream.'
I texted back. Another text came in.
'Tell me about it. Hey, so are we official?'
I was confused.
'What do you mean official?'
I asked. He texted back.
'I mean this: Zia Corry Sanchez, would you be my gf?'
I froze. Oh my gosh. I put my phone down on the bed. I stood up, waited a moment, and then jumped my heart out. I was so exited. Exactly what my mom had wanted. Exactly what I had wanted. I then realized he was still waiting for an answer. I picked up my phone and typed the answer.
'Of course, Lucas. Will you be my bf?'
I waited for an answer, but I didn't have to wait long.
'Of course I will. Ok well I gtg because my mom is gonna get suspicious if I don't come down for pancakes.'
I smiled. Lucas always made funny jokes.
'Haha. Ok. Bye.'
I didn't know what to say. Xx? Love you? Bye bf? But I didn't have to.
'Love u bae <3'
I smirked. Lucas had given me a name. Before anyone else. He always knew what to say. So, I sent back a heart.
'<3'
I put my phone down. I slid into my slippers, and ran downstairs. Mom was in the kitchen, as always. I wanted to keep it secret, but I couldn't help it.
"Mom.." I said. She looked up.
"Oh, hi, honey! How was last night?" She asked, anxious for an answer.
"It was good. Great, actually.." I said.
"And?" She asked.
"Well..Lucas and I..we..made out." I said. She practically jumped in her chair.
"Are you serious? Oh honey, I'm so happy! Your first kiss!" She came in to give me a hug. I pulled back.
"Mom! It's fine. It's not a big deal." I said, embarrassed. Mom smiled.
"I know, I know. So, are you guys official?" She asked.
"Yes." I answered in a whisper.
"Really?! Wow honey! Good for you! You know what, I'm gonna make you pancakes for the occasion!" She said, running to the stove. I sighed. Mom turned to look at me.
"Is that what you're wearing?" She asked, looking at my faded pjs.
"What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"Aren't you going to lunch with Mindy and Lucas today?" She asked. Oh no. I had completely forgotten.
"Oh. Um yeah. I'll go change." I said, running upstairs. What had I been thinking? I should've canceled. But, my plan would be ruined. Well, which was more important to me: finding out the truth about Mindy, or my relationship with Lucas?
