You were a book I judged by the cover
Fascinated by the details you reflected
I assumed our chapters would end in happy ever after
But we were a short story
Filled with love that turned into pain
Each page that turned
We became destruction
Each line written in tears
Your words venomous
Your actions left me on the cliff..hanger
Standing and peering down
That is when our story ended
Now our book has worn edges
And the spine is torn
From all the times I've opened it
And some words are faded
From all the tears I shed
But your copy lay dusty
For you never glance at it
You never go over your own words
The one's you spat at me

That's okay though
Because I love reading
Even if it's the story that hurts the most
