Chapter 6~ Lucas ✔️

6 month before

I was at my company going over some files that I needed for my upcoming meeting. I had other business companies that wanted to collaborate with me. I'm a very busy man. I won't just stand there and tolerate anything that comes in my way. My company has better rates than others.

"Mr. Lockwood" I heard Mrs. Adams from the intercom

"What" I said without taking my eyes off the document that was in my hand

"There's an envelope that came for you " she answered more like hesitating

"Do you know who sent it" I asked while I was looking at a contract which I need to sign by the end of the week

"No sir, It's anonymous. It just says your name sir"

"Why are you accepting things from strangers?" I was getting mad. Is this some type of joke or what

"No sir, when I went to make copies of the files you gave me, it was already placed on my desk"

"Alright, give it to me" I said while I placed the contract down waiting for her to come in

She walked in and placed a big envelope in front of me. I nodded my head and she walked out of my office

I opened the envelope to see a letter in there.

Dear Lockwood,

Want to see what your little Vanessa does whenever you're out for a business trip. Well look at the pictures that are located inside the envelope. You'll see what type of woman she is. She's just like the rest of them that's after money and fame. Maybe you'll realize the little secret she found out a few days ago. I'm just warning you. Before it's too late.

What is this shit? I looked back at the envelope to see photos there. As I took them out my eye caught a familiar woman in them.

No. Vanessa.

In all the pictures I see her with the same guy. The first one their holding hands and walking down the mall together like some happy couple. The second I see them hugging like there's no tomorrow. Their faces are like a few inches away from each other. The third one seems like they're on a date. She's dressed really beautiful and he seems to be wearing a tuxedo. The date of this picture was taken the same day I left for London.

How could she? While I was working my ass off she went around screwing other people. I was planning to make her my wife but this just proves that there's no such thing as love in the world.

I needed to find out the truth.

I went to the intercom " Mrs. Adams clear my afternoon meeting. I need to be somewhere" I said in a much serious tone

"I'm on it sir" she said while I heard her type down something on her computer

I got my phone and texted Vanessa to meet me for lunch

Me: Have lunch with me today, doll ;)

I wasn't going to talk about this serious topic over the phone. I wanted to find out the truth in person

Vanessa:  Of course. I have something important to tell you :)

Oh trust me what I have to say is much more important than whatever you have for me.
