Chapter Twenty Four

Start from the beginning

"Your father is right. Alex, not everything was your fault. There were many things stacked against you. I don't know what I would have done if I was in your shoes, but you should have spoken to us so we could have helped." Mum said in a soothing tone.

"How can I go back when I killed my child? How can I face my mate, the one person I was meant to love and treasure? I ordered her death." I sobbed erratically. "I ordered my child's death." I pushed my hands into my eyes trying to stop the tears from openly.

"Alex, being King is difficult. I prepared you as much as I could. How to be strong, how to protect your pack and kingdom. The one thing I didn't teach you, is that even Kings are human. We too make mistakes." He said with a sad smile. "I'm sorry that I failed you as a father." He finished as a small tear escaped his eye.

"Dad you didn't fail me. I created this mess. You did everything she could for me. I couldn't protect my mate or child. This is on me, not you." I protested as I shook my head.

"Enough with the blame game you too." My mother snapped. "Alex, you are right you did create this mess but like I said before there were things in play that even me and your father couldn't predict. What I am disappointed in, is that you are running away from your problems, running away from your responsibility!" She exclaimed.

Again, I hung my head in shame. She was right, I was running away from my problems. Everything was a mess, I had no idea how to even fix it. How could I? I didn't have a time-machine that could take me back. I couldn't warn my past self to warn myself of the grave mistakes that I was going to make.

"Alex, you need to listen to me clearly. Although you are wolf, you are still human. The greatness of a man isn't based on how physically strong he is or how intelligent he is. It comes from how they correct their wrongs. It comes from how they face adversity. You need to right your wrongs. Especially with your mate. Your Kingdom needs it's rightful Queen." My mother's tone was firm and unwavering. My stomach sunk as I knew she was speaking the truth.

"Will she ever forgive me?" I whispered.

"I don't know Son." My father replied. "Your mate, she is something. I can't even get my head round her resilience. She is strong. The Goddess matched you with a wolf worthy to be called Queen. Unfortunately, as much as I hate to say it, you don't deserve her." My father shook his head in disappointment.

My mother had a slight smirk on her face. I knew something was ticking through her brain as she looked at me with her big doe eyes. "There is still hope Alex. The Goddess hasn't paired you without reason."

"How can I look at her knowing that our child is dead Mom." I replied as I hung my shoulders.

"Your child isn't dead Alex. She is still alive. She is still fighting." My mother explained.

I looked at her, my eyes widened at the information that slips her lips. My eyes gazed her face, looking for something that would tell me she was lying. I didn't want any false hope. I couldn't bare it. "Your lying." I whimpered.

I felt a slap to the back of my head. My hand reached for the sore spot that my mother had it. "Ow." I shouted.

"Don't raise your voice at your mother boy." My father warned. His eyes was hardened, his voice was firm. "You know your mother wouldn't lie to you. She is right, she is still alive." He sighed.

"Where? Who? How do I find her? Why didn't Lily tell me?!" I desperately shouted.

"You know who she is, she is closer than you think. You watched her grow up to be a beautiful lady. The reason Lily didn't tell you is simple. She doesn't know. The Moon Goddess took your daughter from Lily when she died and saved her. She hid her right in front of the enemies eyes." My mother explained.
