Chapter 1

May 2005

I came out running from our house when I saw my best friend, Sandro Marcos, and his family coming out of their house too.

Tita Liza asked, "Oh hija, nakapag impake ka na ba?"

"Yes po, tita. Mom prepared it for me."

"O'siya sige pasok na kayo sa loob." She said before going to my mother. I went into their mansion with Sandro.

"Hey, hey nikki." I glanced at him. He put his earbud to my ear and said, "Listen to this."

Wise men say...

Only fools rush in...

But I can't help...

Falling in love... With you...

I must admit, it's quite soothing. Wow.

"Oh my, I love it! What's the title?" I exclaimed.

"Can't help falling in love. I saw an album of Elvis Presley once at my dad's office." Tito Bongbong's an avid fan of music. Actually, sa music, lahat kami ay mahilig. Bonding na nga namin mag karaoke.

I let out a sigh. "Anyway, I can't believe we're going to study overseas. At least, I don't think I can."

"I do feel the same. But I'm with you naman nikki. Buti nalang at sa Worth tayo parehas." Tommorow will be our flight to UK.

Ngayon may pa despedida ang mga Marcos. In Oxford, my father and Sandro's father are best friends. I have a strong bond with them, especially Sandro. Sands and I are the same age, though he is a month older than me.

"Come now kids," it's tito Bongbong's voice. We were escorted to their garden by him.

Yung parents ko kasunod na rin namin. Naabutan namin sila Vinny at Simon sa garden. Lahat kami nandito na, pero sabi ni tito Bongbong na pupunta si mama Meldy. I'm looking forward to seeing her again.

"Grabe ate nikki, aalis na talaga kayo." Malungkot na saad ni Vinny.

I patted his back and said, "Come on Vinny, magkikita pa rin naman tayo ah."

"Ako ba hindi mo mami-miss?" Sabat ni Sandro.

"Lagi mo akong inaaway diba?" I laughed out loud. May mga time talaga na nagbabangayan ang magkakapatid na ito.

"Kids!" Mabilis kaming napalingon sa tumawag. Mas lalong lumapad ang ngiti ko ng makita ko si Mama Meldy.

"Mama Meldy!!"
We four started running towards the elderly lady.

"Oh dahan dahan lang Simon." Saad ni Mama Meldy nang muntikan pang madapa si Simon. "Come here, darlings, and give me a hug."

"Oh, mama meldy, it's so lovely to see you," I said.

"Ah Nikki, Sandro." She hugged the two of us. "Mag iingat kayo sa UK ha." Tumango kami. "Protect each other, alright?"

"Yes mama melds, I will protect her." Napangiti ako kay sandro.

Matapos ang pagdating ng dating first Lady ay agad na kaming kumain.

Hinila ko ang bag ko papasok sa room na tutuluyan namin. I'll be sharing a room with Sandro. I stowed my belongings to the side of the bed.

I inquired, "Makaka survive kaya tayo?" Sandro took a seat on the bed.

"Perhaps," I sighed. Hindi naman siguro kami kakainin ng buhay ng mga tao rito. Umupo nalang din ako sa tabi nya.

"I'll miss everyone." My eyes are starting to watered. Sandro comforted me by hugging me. He stroked my hair.

"Shhh, we'll survive together." Ngayon palang naho-homesick na ako.

"Gusto ko na umuwi," I sobbed.

"We just got here Nikki." He chuckled a bit.

"Don't laugh at me nga." I glared at him. Naiiyak na nga ako rito tapos tatawa pa siya.

"Come on, you look like a lost kid." He wiped my tears using his thumb. "Libutin nalang natin itong new school natin?"

"Pwede?" Ginulo niya ang buhok ko.

"Hindi ka talaga nakikinig kanina 'no?" Natawa na naman siya. "The teacher explained that earlier. Pwede naman daw muna tayo mag libot dito. Sa monday pa naman start ng class eh."

"Nakikinig ako, baka lang humina boses niya sa part na yan kay hindi ko narinig."

"Oh yeah?" He's clearly teasing me.

"Yeah, so let's go. Ayokong maligaw sa school na'to. I feel like someone's going to eat me alive." Mas lalong natawa itong kasama ko.

"You're so silly, Nikki."
