SAY THE WORD

The baby was crying. Maggie was holding her as she sobbed. I walked over to Maggie

"Let me see her" I said. She gently handed me the baby. I held the small child in my arms

"Hey, shh, shh" I said. Rick was completely out of of it. Daryl went over and waved his hand in front of his face

"Rick, you with me?" Daryl asked as I tried getting the baby to quiet down. Maggie clung to Glenn as she sobbed. Glenn doing his best to comfort her

"Rick?" Daryl asked. Carl walked over and held his arms out. I gently put his sister in his arms

"Let me see the baby" Hershel said as Carl walked over to him

"What are we gonna feed it?" Daryl asked

"We'll need to get formula. She won't be able to eat baby food until at least 4 months" I said

"Why you know so much about babies?" Daryl asked

"'Cause one day that was gonna be me but then the world went to shit" I said. Hershel looked at the baby as she cried

"The good news is she looks healthy. But like Y/n said, she needs formula. And soon or she won't survive" Hershel said

"Nope. No way. Not her. We ain't losing nobody else. I'm going for a run" Daryl said

"I'll come with" I said

"I'll back you up too" Maggie said

"I'll also go" Glenn said

"Okay, think where we're going. Beth" Daryl said pulling her aside and telling her something. She nodded

"You two get the fence. Too many pile up, we got ourselves a problem. Y/n, Glenn, Maggie, vamanos!" Daryl yelled. Rick grabbed his ax

"Rick!" Maggie yelled as he walked off

"Get the gate. Come on, we're gonna lose the light" Daryl said. I quickly followed after him. Maggie and Glenn not too far behind

"There's a Piggly Wiggly on 85" Glenn said

"No, the baby section's been cleared. Lori asked me to keep an eye out. I haven't had much luck" Maggie said

"Is there any place that hasn't been completely looted?" Daryl asked

"We saw signs for a shopping center just north of here" Glenn said

"We'll go there" I said as Maggie opened the car door

"There's too much debris on the road. A car will never get through there" Maggie said

"I can take one of you" Daryl said

"I'll go" Maggie said

"Maggie, are you sure?" I asked. She nodded

"No, Maggie, after everything that you've been through, okay, I'll go" Glenn said

"I want to go. For Lori, I have to" Maggie said

"Okay. I love you. Be safe" Glenn said before they kissed. Maggie then walked to Daryl's bike and got on the back. They drove off. Me and Glenn, watching

"Let's go grab shovels" Glenn said. I nodded. We walked to where we kept the shovels and grabbed them. We both then began to dig. We were digging a hole together. Shoveling dirt out. Oscar and Axel approached. We looked at them and stopped shoveling. We stepped out of the hole

"How's the perimeter look?" Glenn asked them

"We got the walkers spread out. Need help?" Axel asked. Glenn didn't respond and got back to digging

"Don't mind him.. we're all just a little out of it.. thank you, Axel for the offer though, but we've got it" I said with a sad smile. He nodded

"Your friends, they- they were good folks" Axel said

"They were family" Glenn said. Axel nodded

"I think I had one friend like that my whole life. You got a whole group. Sorry you lost 'em" Oscar said. I smiled and thanked him as Glenn didn't respond

"I need two more" Glenn said before walking away

"Don't worry, I'll stay and dig. I promise we're all usually nice people" I said with a fake smile. I helped them dig another hole

"You can drop that smile, ain't none of us think its real" Oscar said. It dropped

"Am I that obvious?" I asked

"Yeah" He said chuckling. I laughed a little too as we continued digging

It was night. Me and Glenn were waiting in the guard tower for Daryl and Maggie. Axel and Oscar were making sure there were no build ups in the fence. Then we heard a motor roar

"Guys, they're back!" Glenn yelled

"Come on! Come on! Come on! You want some of this? Come on! Come on!" Axel yelled distracting the walkers. Glenn took out a sniper and took out walkers around them. Axel and Oscar opened the gate and Daryl and Maggie quickly drove in. Oscar closed the door behind them. I ran down the guard tower stairs to meet up with them

"What did you find?" I asked

"Formula" Maggie said. We all hurried to the cell block

"Beth" Maggie said as we heard the baby crying. Me and Daryl quickly walked over to the baby

"How's she doing?" Daryl asked. He then took her from Carl

"Shh" Daryl said. Watching him hold a baby was kind of cute. He was so focused on her. Beth had made formula and gave the bottle to Daryl. He quickly began feeding the baby

"Come on. Come on" Daryl said softly. The crying had stopped as she began eating. He chuckled as he looked around. A smile on my face as I stared at him

"What's that goofy look for?" Daryl asked me

"Didn't know you knew how to care of babies, that's all. You have truly astonished me" I said. He rolled his eyes. He then looked at Carl

"She got a name yet?" Daryl asked

"Not yet. But I was thinking maybe Sophia. Then there's Carol, too. And.. Andrea. Amy. Jacqui. Patricia. Or.. Lori. I don't know" Carl said. Daryl looked back at the baby as he smiled

"Yeah.. You like that? Huh? Little ass-kicker" Daryl said. We all chuckled

"Right? That's a good name, right? Little ass-kicker. You like that, huh? You like that, sweetheart?" Daryl asked being a total softie to the baby. My stomach felt uneasy as I stared at the scene. Though I wasn't sure why
