SAVE THE LAST ONE

It was dark outside. I saw a car arrive. I opened the door to see my two favorite people

"T! Glenn!" I yelled as I ran towards them happily

"Y/n!" Glenn yelled back. I stopped in front of the two and got a closer look at T-Dog

"Oh my, God. Are you okay? Hurry, come inside" I said urging the two in but Maggie was there

"Did you close the gate up the road when you drove in?" Maggie asked

"Uh, hi. Yes, we closed it. Did the latch and everything. Hello. Nice to see you again. We met before briefly" Glenn said all nervous as he stared at Maggie like she was a goddess

"Look, we came to help. There anything we can do?" T-Dog asked before he groaned. Maggie got up and looked at his arm

"It's not a bite. I cut myself pretty bad, though" T-Dog said

"We'll have it looked at. I'll tell them you're here" Maggie said. Glenn pulled something out of his bag

"We have some painkillers and antibiotics. I already gave him some. If Carl needs any" Glenn said

"Hurry your asses inside" I said. We all walked inside. I led T-Dog and Glenn to the room that held Carl. Patricia, Rick, Lori and Hershel were in there. Maggie was behind us

"Hey" Glenn whispered. Rick and Lori looked at him

"Hey" Rick said just above a whisper. Hershel stood up

"Um, we're here, okay?" Glenn asked

"Thank you" Rick said

"Whatever you need" T-Dog said. The three of us walked out

—————

I watched as Patricia sewed T-Dog's arm. He was letting out quick breaths as he fought the pain.

"You got here right in time. This couldn't go untreated much longer" Patricia said. Glenn walked in and stood beside me

"I'm glad you got here when you did T-Dog" I said. He gave me a soft smile that was filled with pain as he struggled to stay still

"Merle Dixon. Is that your friend with the antibiotics?" Patricia asked

"No, ma'am. Merle's no longer with us. Daryl gave us those- his brother" Glenn said

"Not sure I'd call him a friend" T-Dog said

"I wouldn't either" I said

"He is today. This doxycycline might have just saved your life. You know what Merle was taking it for?" Patricia asked

"The clap" Glenn said. We all looked at him funny

"Um, venereal disease. That's what Daryl said" Glenn said nervously

"I'd say Merle Dixon's clap was the best thing to ever happen to you" Patricia said

"I'm really trying not to think about that" T-Dog said in pain. Glenn had walked out. I stayed to help T-Dog, though there wasn't much I could do. I was there as moral support

"Hey, Y/n, can you take over?" Maggie asked. I nodded my head and walked over. I put my hand in T-Dog's and he began squeezing it. Maggie walked out

"I've been through many injuries.. but- but this.. puts the icing on top" T-Dog said

"What do you mean 'injuries'?" I asked

"I played college football in high-school.  I'm sure you can figure out the rest" He said

"You played football?!" I asked shocked as Patricia continued giving him stitches. He looked at me confused

"You didn't know? I swore I told you" He said. I shook my head

"You did not" I said

"Well, you do now" He said with a pained grin

They were getting ready to operate on Carl when a truck came. We all ran outside to see Shane. There was no Otis, only Shane

"Carl?" Shane asked as he brought the bags

"There's still a chance" Rick said as Hershel took the bags

"Otis?" Hershel asked looking around. Shane looked down

"No" Shane said. I frowned. I was never close to Otis before the apocalypse. I had seen him around the farm when I was younger but I really never talked to him

"We say nothing to Patricia. Not till after. I need her" Hershel said before walking inside. Rick hugged Shane

"They kept blocking us at every turn.  We had nothing left. We were down to 10 rounds. Then he said- he said he'd cover me and that I should keep going. So that's what I did. I just.. I kept going. But I.. I looked back and he- I tried" Shane said. Maggie was so shocked. I wrapped my arms around her as tears fell down her face. She was so lifeless. Her arms down to her sides

"He wanted to make it right" Rick said. I just held onto Maggie, trying to provide any emotional support I could

—————

I was waiting for Hershel to finish up with Carl. I was sitting on the couch. I heard footsteps. I turned to see Hershel. I stood up

"How is he?" I asked. He smiled

"He's stable" He said before going to walk outside to where Lori and Rick were. I, along with some of the others followed him. Hershel opened the door and walked out. All of us following. Rick and Lori were sitting on the steps that led to the porch. They turned and stood up. T-Dog who was sitting in the rocking chair had also gotten up and walked over. Shane was sitting by the truck. He stood up

"He seems to have stabilized" Hershel explained. Rick sighed in relief

"Oh, God" Rick breathed out. Hershel smiled. Rick and Lori smiled at him. Rick then hugged Hershel. Hershel hugged him back. Lori began crying as Rick stepped away from Hershel

"I don't have words" Lori said crying happily

"I don't either. Wish I did. How do I tell Patricia about Otis?" Hershel asked. Lori and Rick's smiles dropped. Shane watched intently. Rick then looked at Lori

"You go to Carl. I'll go with Hershel" Rick said. Hershel opened the door and walked inside, Rick following him. Then, we all went inside
