everyone came to a halt when the music stopped playing

positioning for the next song

"try not to step on my toes" he whispered in my ear

while i was pulled against his chest, our hands connected and my other hand around his neck

while his other hand was draped around my waist

the music began

"you're so beautiful" he said, spinning me gracefully around his body

i was able to keep up with his rhythm

"so are you" i said, slightly nervous by the short distance between our bodies

"i'm beautiful?" he mocked me, laughing gently

i missed those dimples so much

"oh, wai- ye- handsome" i ultimately stuttered

"that's embarrassing" i said, realizing how badly i just messed up that sentence

his laugh was highly contagious

"mia" he said, dipping me down in his arms

"yea?" i replied, following the rhythm of his movements

"are you happy?" he asked

"very" i said, forcing a smile

"bullshit" he lifted my body up, then down

he turned my body, so that my back was pressed against him

and we continued dancing

his hands gripping my waist

"what's wrong?" he leaned over my shoulder, talking in my ear

"can we leave it alone? please?" i said

this conversation is a great way to ruin a mood

there was a short moment of silence before he replied

"for now"

"i don't see your parents anywhere" i said quietly, trying not to be overheard

"they lay low, who knows maybe they have a sniper aimed at us now" he chuckled, wrapping his arms around my waist

"you say that so nonchalantly?" i said, a bit concerned for his well being

"i don't mind dying, dancing with the only girl i've ever loved" he smiled

there goes the fast heartbeat again

the music stopped out of no where

leaving dancers, including us, confused

"run" was heard over a loud speaker

the voice was deep and calm

suddenly rapid gunfire spread across the ballroom

bodies dropping down by the second

cain grabbed my hand and ran behind a structure

"i'm supposed to be with mio" i said, trying my best to calm pumping adrenaline

"fuck mio"

"i did" i replied, laughing

cain only got up running to the other structure

"wait" i yelled and ran behind him, hiding behind the structure with him

"you fuck mio, but run after me. hm" he chuckled pulling out his phone

"whatever" i rolled my eyes, scanning the room

"where is everybody?" i mumbled

cain was on the phone with them

"then why the fuck did we bring guns if we aren't going to shoot?" he yelled through the phone

"mia, they were never here. It was a distraction" he said, hanging up the phone

"what?" i yelled

"cmon" he grabbed my hand, running towards another door

he opened the door and pulled me through it

we ran through the wet grass from fresh rain

rain water hitting our heads and dripping down our bodies as we ran

our clothes becoming soggy at the touch

we spotted the limo and quickly ran inside it

and it pulled out of the area
