I stand there, blood running down my face in crimson rivulets from behind the dumpster. Deep ragged breathes wrack my body as I try to process everything that's happened in the last few hours.

I crouch down to the musty ground and curl up as small as I can.

It should be embarrassing, this all should be embarrassing.

It is embarrassing but I can't bring myself to care.

I sit here for what feels like ages but must have only been a few minutes when I hear a quiet meow from the other side of the bin.

I'm startled at first, not expecting to hear anything so close to me then I peek around the trash to see two piercing green eyes staring back at me looking almost concerned.

I laugh silently at the irony, it's the cat from before.

"Where did you come from lil guy?" I ask her quietly, wondering absentmindedly if this is the same alley from when I first saw her, if so then I'm near my house. I might've missed that in my panic to escape.
