Music oddly familiar, though you may not remember the words, and you cannot help but soak it in like sunlight

Bask

Breath

The air is clear and gently conditioned, your fingers run through your hair in the shower, and shampoo runs down your back

Stomach butterflies, brand new days, the heat is just beginning to lift, the dust filters through the window slats

Birds whisper secrets, peeping around corners and clinging to powerlines, poised and magnificent

Whistle

Misty breath

Vivid leaves of half the rainbow, confetti swirling around you, blowing out the candles

All around you, laughter echoes, ghosts pushing empty swings, toy cars squeaking down the sidewalk

The wind buffets your clothes, nudging you forward like being drawn into a hug, humid and dry all at once

Singing

Peppermint

Aromatic air, mint and chocolate and evergreens and dust and sugarcane and cinnamon and nutmeg

Cold fingers, burning noses, and frozen tears; crackling fires, piles of blankets, and hot drinks

Red, white, and green - but so much brown, layered with snow and air so crisp your lungs burn

Thunderstorms

Green

Rain tumbles down, melting the layers of blankets, and the sun slowly shifts from white to yellow

Lime grass, lime leaves, lime clovers, dancing flowers in a waltz of birth and rebirth, cycles and tunes

Sneezes and tissues and brisk morning jogs, clean backpacks and brand new clothes and bright red shoes

Exhaustion

Accomplishment

Bathing suits and campfires, bucket lists and growing minds, learn to drive and learn to fly all on your own

Friends and family and celebration, meteor storms and record players, apricots and crackling speakers

Tree houses and wooden stick fights, bruised knees and tangled hair, dirty feet and sparkling eyes

This is life

This is breathing

This is bliss

This is home.
