"I would have done what I needed to do and left before getting caught if you hadn't come."

He took a step closer to her and she waited for him to retaliate, but instead he lowered himself to her height and asked, "What do I smell like?"

"You smell like shit," she replied.

He gave her an infuriating grin as he cooed, "Smell me. What do I smell like?"

She inhaled.

He smelled exactly like himself. Whatever damn perfume they all wore.

She looked directly into his eyes as she gritted out, "You. Smell. Like. Shit."

His eyes remained locked with hers as he took her hand into his and pressed a vial into it.

"Goodnight, Blondie."

He noticed the slight twitch of her eyebrows and smirked before turning around and strutting down the hall.

Rune dazedly watched him go and it was only after he turned the corner that she looked down and found the vial labelled Amortentia in her hands.

There was an obvious gap inside from where some of the potion was missing.

She knew at once where it was.

He'd put it on himself and asked her to smell him.

And she smelled him.

Later that night, Rune tossed and turned in her bed as she opened and closed the vial of Amortentia and studied its smell.

There was no way Super Mysterious Guy was Regulus Black. None. Not even one.

Super Mysterious Guy was fun and sweet and flirty, and Regulus was... Regulus.

The possibility of her coming last for N.E.W.T's was more likely than Regulus being Super Mysterious Guy.

She sat up and placed the B ring, the copy of Great Expectations, the letter from Super Mysterious Guy and the vial of Amortentia on the bed.

The Regulus she knew would never annotate a book for anyone let alone her.

She didn't imagine he'd actually trust anyone the way Super Mysterious Guy trusted her.

There was no chance.

She shook her head.

If her mind was willing to let such dumb thoughts occur to her, she really needed to try harder to discover the identity of Super Mysterious Guy.

What do you smell in your Amortentia?

Amortentia was fifth year.

What did you smell in your Amortentia?

Why do you want to know?

I'm a naturally curious person.

What do you sell in your Amortentia?

Why would I tell you?

Same reason you want me to tell you.

The difference is you know who I am.

And what about when you find out who I am?

I'll help you find the person you smell.

And what if the person I smell is you?

It can't be me.

Why not?

You said Amortentia was fifth year.

You only smelled me in sixth year.

Wrong.

You only smelled me in sixth year.

I smelled you before.

So, did you smell me then?

I don't know, did I?

That's what I'm asking.

:)

If I tell you one thing I smelled, will you tell me one thing you smelled?

Okay.

It was flowery. I realize now it's lavender.

Tea.

Spicy. But the nice kind like cinnamon.

Good for you.

You tell me one now.

No.

But you said you would!

I agreed to tell you one thing if you told me one thing.

If you told me two things, that's your problem.

You're insufferable.

I'm insatiable.

You wish you were.

I have a vivid memory of you begging me to kiss you.

I never did that!

Yeah, you did.

Proof?

The ring.

What does the ring have to do with it?

I was so moved by it, that I had to part with
something dear to me to make space
for how dear the kiss was.

The ring is too big for my fingers.

Wear it around your neck.

Do I seem like the kind of girl who wears a boy's initials around my neck?

You seem like the kind of girl who'd wear mine.

So, it is your initial then?

One of them.

What are the others?

Next time I kiss you, I'll tell you.

I'm figuring it out.

When you find out who I am...

Yeah?

:)

What?

Just looking forward to it is all.

Trust me, so am I.
