Chapter 16: Hunting Palismen

You're woken up by Luz banging on your door.

"Y/n Y/n Y/n Y/n!" She yells.

You groan and sit up.

"What?" You groggily yell back.

"It's palismen day! Eda was wondering if you and Nova wanted to come with!" Luz replies.

You think for a moment. "Sorry, no. I'm tired." You reply, flopping back into your bed.

You hear Luz run off and the second she and Eda leave, you hop out of bed and grab your crystal ball.

You tap a few things, calling Hunter. He picks up almost instantly.

"How was the coven meeting?" You ask.

"Not even a hello? I thought you cared about me." He dramatically leans back in his chair.

You chuckle.

Thanks to your little realization yesterday, you're now taking into account how incredibly attractive he is.

Your face goes red and you look down.

"But uh, it was... good? Belos needs me to do another mission tonight." He says.

"All these missions leading to the day of unity are so... tiring." Hunter complains, running his hands through his hair, leaving it extra fluffy and messy.

Your face goes red and you stare at him for a moment.

"Here's an idea then. Sleep. Just maybe. You have until tonight, right?" You state.

He blinks a few times.

"Oh yeah- but then I won't get to talk to you! I'd sacrifice all my sleep just to talk to you~" he hums.

You think for a moment before grabbing a notepad and scribbling down some words, holding it up to the crystal ball.

Then I won't talk :)

Hunter glares at the note.

"You can't just- not talk to me!" He yells.

Hunter frowns. "Fine. I'll sleep. Happy?" He asks.

You smile and set down the notepad. "Very."

He smiles softly, his face going slightly red.

"I'll talk to you later then, princess." He sighs.

"Farewell for now, my prince." You hum before hanging up the call.

You feel kind of bad for not being there to support Luz getting her palismen but you did promise Hunter you'd talk to him more.

While you were staying with him to mostly fix your broken wrist, he was pretty stressed about this meeting.

You can't blame him. All the Head witches were there.

A few hours later you hear Luz arriving home.

You and Nova quickly run downstairs and over to her.

"Well, what palismen did you get?" You excitedly ask.

You notice Luz's expression and your smile turns into a frown.

"Oh.. did you not-..?" You mumble.

Luz nods.

"I'm just gonna.. go up to my room." She says, walking away.

"She's gonna rant to the echo mouse, isn't she?" You ask.

Eda and king nod.

"And we're definitely gonna eavesdrop, aren't we?" You ask.
