Like in virtually all armies, heavy weapons will stay play a vital and important role on and off the battlefield and the Kovenant Imperial Army is certainly no exception to this daft as well.
The Kovenant had, throughout its long and venerable history been utilizing Heavy weapons systems for a very long time indeed. Even up until the era of the 51st Millennium, its heavy weapons teams and systems still play a vital and very important role in the military.

Today, we shall go over these heavy weapons systems one at a time. To know their strengths, weaknesses, roles, and the number of crew needed to operate them all in a battlefield situation.

Organisation.

It should be worth noting that, as previously mentioned, all Heavy Weapons are part of a Heavy weapons company organic to the Regiment in question.

As previously mentioned, the Heavy Weapons company is where all Heavy weapons are assigned towards... However, during a battle or during planning for both defensive and offensive operations, the Heavy Weapons company can attach its heavy weapons teams to different formations within the Regiment. Either by request of the soldiers or from directives given by the Commanders planning it.

For Example:
An Infantry Battalion is tasked with assaulting a fortified position atop a hill with 4 Platoon sized formations within it... So the Battalion Commander calls in both MG7 Machine Gun teams, as well as Mortar Teams to help support the attack.

Or if the troops are expected to go up against enemy armour, they could request for Anti-tank weaponry such as Pax-88 Anti Tank Railguns or Raketenwerfer teams.

Alternatively, the Heavy Weapons Company can also be used to support the Regiment in general or else fulfill its original role of supporting smaller formations within the Regiment.

Weapons teams.

MG7 Machine Gun teams.

First on the list are the MG7 Heavy Machine Gun teams.

These are 3 man teams, with:
1 Gunner.
1 Ammo Carrier/Assistant Gunner.
1 Armed soldier with a Lasen-Gewehr for security.

Note: All soldiers, including those operation heavy weapons of all types, carry Mag Lugars with them as a secondary weapon.

...

The MG7 is a truly terrifying and deadly Heavy Machine gun and one in which was extremely popular among Kovenant troops and utterly terrifying for enemy soldiers to encounter upon the battlefield.

Typically, it comes with a Tripod configuration. However, soldiers on the field can easily swap out the tripod, with a much more convenient Bipod instead, should they ever need it.

And most MG7 Crews prefer the much easier to configure Bipod. The MG7 is superior to its MG6 Light Laser machine gun brother.

The MG7 does not use laser bolts, instead, it uses far more deadly mag booster-assisted, high caliber, exploding rounds.
This gives the MG7 extreme armor-piercing capabilities, it won't just be able to combat enemy Infantry, but it can also be used to defeat light armoured vehicles such as scout cars, Humvees, or even damage an APC/IFV with ease and still retaining its effectiveness

And because this weapon, in particular, is assisted by powerful Mag boosters within the barrel, this meant that it was moving at extremely high velocity, meaning that they can reach insane speeds and thus, can also be used to engage air targets... While it cannot shoot down fighters and bombers, it can still target and damage helicopters or even Dropships and Shuttles, making it yet another anti-air weapon that can be used.
