"(Y/N), where are you going?" Pausing with a wince, you turned to your father with a nervous laugh. You were hoping to get out without being noticed. Looks like you weren't that  lucky.

"I'm just going for a hike." You explained, already knowing that he was already going to object, "I've already got my machete and bag, incase I get stuck out there. You taught me everything I know, so you'll know I'll be okay."

Being part of a settlement in a new land, you want to explore beyond the gates more than what you've been allowed. Noticing your father frowning in thought, you prayed that you were able to be convincing. enough.

"Okay." Hearing his answer you smiled, "However, should you stay out overnight, you will be in an area where we can see the fire of your smoke and you don't bother the local Drider tribe."

"Yes, of course." You cheered, giving him a hug, "I'll be careful. See you."

Practically running out the door, you waved to some of the other settlers as you passed them. There was an agreement with the Drider tribe that the people of your settlement won't harm them if they don't harm you. There's nothing that says you can't explore the area around the settlement. Waving to the guards as you left through the gate.

About the second day you came to the settlement, you and your father explored some of the area around, but not enough to please you. A week later the deal with the Drider tribe was made. Now you try to get out as often as you can.

Keeping closer to the warn down foot trail, you examined every creature and unique plant you could see. Some little brightly colored reptiles and plants that seemed to move on their own. You've always admired the different life and learning about them. You even hope that one day you'll get to see the different types of tribes the further inland you move.

Grinning at the large canyon, you peered over the edge. It was a long drop to the bottom. You could barely see the river at the bottom of the canyon. The only way across was a tree that had fallen over. Walking across it is risky, but you've done it enough times that you could probably cross it with your eyes closed. Climbing up on it, you held your arms out to your sides and started walking across. Climbing over or moving around any branches that were in your way. However, you didn't count on one of the branches that you stepped on to snap and send you falling. You didn't even have time to scream though, before you felt something wrap around your ankle, stopping your fall.

Tilting your head to look at what caught you, Ragno frowned down at you while pulling on his web. He was hanging from the underside of the tree with his legs.

"What are you doing out here on your own, (Y/N)?" he sighed almost tiredly, which made you smile more as he hug you upside down in front of him.

"Oh, just out for a stroll." You chirped, earning a disbelieving hum from him, before he helped you onto the tree and stood by you, "No armor today?"

"I'm not working today." He explained, keeping a hand on your back as he guided you to the other side of the canyon safely, "I was already on my way to see if you could come out."

"Awe, how sweet." You giggled, as he crouched down, to your height with a smirk.

"What's not sweet is seeing you almost fall to your death." He lectured making you roll your eyes.

"You're starting to sound like my dad." You complained, turning to look at something that flew past. He gently grabbed the sides of your face and turned you back to face his six golden eyes. At first his eyes had scared you, but now you absolutely loved them. When you first meet him, was for the establishment of the treaty, the second time he saved you from one of his webs that he uses to protect their castle. Over time, your relationship has grown. Now he's your closest friend, that no one knows about.

"I've meet him and I'll take that as a compliment." He laughed. Rolling your eyes with a smirk, you climbed onto his back. Hanging onto him as he started crawling. Your grip only tightened when he started climbing up a large tree, to the tree house you and he made a couple months ago. It's not yet approved for your kinds to interact yet, so this is what you two call your safe space. Made with some of his web and logs from fallen trees, it's probably the safest place for you out here. Other than with him of course. From here though, you could see both your settlement and the castle where his people live.

"Do you have to work tomorrow?"  you asked sliding off his back to let him relax. Moving around in front of him and sitting so your back was laying against his front legs. Two of his legs, wrapped around you. To anyone else it might look like he was attacking you, but his spider half is so fluffy and warm that it's actually really comfortable.

"I don't. I figured we can "Hang out", as your kind puts it, tonight." He chuckled, making your laugh at his attempt to figure out human speech.

"I'm glad." You muttered, before you both fell silent. It was comfortable enough with only the sound of the jungle around you both, that you nearly fell asleep. Until you felt something lightly tap your nose. Peeking your eyes open, they widened when you saw what looked like a necklace with a yellow gem, dangling in front of you.

"So, what do you think?" He gave you a sheepish grin, as you looked up at him.

"It's amazing, Ragno. Did you make this?" You asked while he tied it around your neck.

"Yeah, from my web and a yellow diamond." He chuckled, "They guys in the barricades were teasing me about making it. Asking more questions that I liked."

"I appreciate it." You admitted, "The design reminds me of your web designs and the yellow reminds me of your eyes. It's easy to tell that it was you who made it."

Blinking up in confusion when he looked away, you didn't know why. You told him what you honestly thought. Unless he didn't appreciate it. You were about to apologize, but he pulled you up so he was burring his face in your shoulder.

"(Y/N), I'm really happy to hear you say that. You really mean the world to me. I don't care if the other guards make fun of me. I like you, probably more than I should." He admitted.

Freezing, you could practically feel your heart running a marathon. You never thought a drider like him would admit to liking you, however you had to admit that hearing him say that, made you feel something. It wasn't really a question for you.

Managing to twist and turn until you were facing him, you wrapped your arms around his neck in a hug. Nuzzling into his warmth, in contentment.

"I like you too, Ragno." You sighed, smirking when you felt his breathing stop for a minute. Never in your life, did you think you would make a Drider larger than yourself, react like this with only a few words. That told you just how much he cared about you though. Now that you think about it, he's saved you countless times. He even has a scar across his nose from saving you. It almost makes you wonder how long he's cared about you like this.

Pulling back from the hug, you leaned up and kissed the scar over his nose. Catching his smirk and the mischievous glint in his eyes.

"You missed." He chuckled, before kissing your lips. Kissing him back, you only pulled back when you needed air. Feeling your face flush, as he hugged you tighter.

"So then, after some cuddling, I should make a hammock and go hunting." He sighed, setting you back down so two of his spider legs would wrap around you again . Nodding, you nuzzled back against him.  Now sure that with a Drider knight by your side, nothing in this new land will hurt you.
